What are you playing this weekend? 2023-06-24

Hello Everyone!

Time for another update on our gaming progress!

I am still playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingom. About 65 hours in. Small non-spoiler update next, those who want to avoid it can move to next paragraph. I am going for the last regional quest, and have found 60+ shrines. As for exploration, have done about 1/4th of Depths and Sky Islands, and activated all Sky towers, though there's still a lot to find.

I mentioned resuming Animal Crossing, but it didn't went far. My wife is completely back into it, but I haven't played it much, whenever I am on Switch I just want to play Zelda.

In non-Nintendo world, just downloaded Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, going to start playing it with my kid. Going to be our first beat 'em up together, if I am not forgetting any.

Other than that, also planning to give Monster Hunter: World another try, this time with a group of friends.

That's all from me. What are you all up to? What are you playing?

More TotK for me, with a high level of avoiding the main questline.

12
lemmy.ml

I'm still immersed in the world of TotK, squeezing in gaming sessions whenever I find a spare moment. Surprisingly, despite investing a considerable amount of time, I'm "only" 40 hours into the game.

8

Haha, I had an opposite experience. I thought I am not playing it at all, might be 20-30 hours at most, then checked and was at 50 hours. The game feels immersive so don't even realize how much time I have put into it.

4
kbin.social

If this anhedonia streak continues, I'll probably dick around for an hour or two on Guild Wars 2, drop an hour into Vermintide II, maybe load up an emulator and play a couple of SNES games, then ultimately end up listening to a podcast while I play spider solitaire.

5
lemmy.world

Of all these words, I only know enough about SNES and Spider Solitaire to comment on them. 😀 So, what podcasts are you listening these days? Anything interesting to add to my list.

1
VoxAdActareply
kbin.social

I stay on top of Last Podcast on the Left (except sometimes I'll skip the UFO episodes and come back to them later... they can get a little silly), and fill in the gaps with Behind the Bastards and Scam Goddess.

2

Last Podcast on the Left

It looks interesting. Is this the kind of show where you can hear old episodes whenever, or is it something that include recent events that won't be fun without context?

1

ToTK, spending a lot of time not doing the main quests.

Finishing up FFVII Remake Intermission before I start FFXVI as the other game I'm juggling in the not-much free time I have had lately.

5
lemmy.world

TotK is just as fun doing the main quest, as it's not doing the main quest. Though right now I am really excited about the story and want to know more.

Good luck with FF7R-I, are you looking forward to playing the the second part coming next year?

2
lemmy.world

Since I finished TotK last week (got 100 hours out of the game), I decided to take a break from it for a while and instead focus on my switch backlog.

I'm about to finish a game called In Other Waters. What I initially thought would be just a chill exploration game became a really immersive narrative experience with turn of events which really caught me off guard. I'm definitely interested in more games from the developer, I heard great things about their subsequent game Citizen Sleeper.

Other than that, I started playing Blaster Master Zero 2. I played the first one last year and really enjoyed my time with it, and the sequel so far seems to be as good as the first one.

Outside of Nintendo ecosystem, I'll also probably boot up PS5 for a few hours and try to get more trophies out of Unravel 2.

5
lemmy.world

Congratulations on finishing the game!

You already got me interested in "In Other Waters", now you are getting me even more excited. Going to move it up on my to-play list.

How are you playing Unravel 2? Single player or co-op?

2
piposaurusreply
lemmy.world

I'm playing Unravel 2 solo, I could not convince my SO to play with me. It does work surprisingly well as a single player game though.

2
lemmy.world

I'm still mostly playing TOTK. I completed the main story earlier this week, and normally that would kind of trigger a switch in my brain to lose all interest in side quests, but somehow it's managed to keep me interested.

The direct reminded me that I have barely started Mario + Rabbids Kindgom Battle, so been playing that a bit too.

Then to wind down I've been getting closer and closer to completing the all the normal Picross puzzles in Picross S2

5

Yeah, completing the game generally make me lose the interest in these things too, so I am trying to do all the side stuff between the main quests.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a great game, and the Donkey Kong DLC is alse pretty fun. Changes up things a bit to keep you interested, and also increases the difficulty a bit.

Picross is an all time fun game. I always have a Picross game going on, takes me ages to finish them though. I am still at Picross S4, about halfway done. I used to do Normal puzzles first, then Mega, and so on, but now I am doing all together. A page of Picross, then a page of Mega, and any Clip Picross as they appear. Keeps the game more interesting.

2
lemmy.world

I am concentrating on tackling my backlog! This week I’m prioritizing Varriable Barricade, Amnesia memories and maybe a few routes from The crimson flower

5
lemmy.world

A wide range of games!

It's nice to keep the backlog short, just don't force yourself to play anything, that burns you out.

1
lemmy.world

Ended up getting sick and playing nothing :( but definitely not planning on burning out will take my time and enjoy the games :)

2
lemm.ee

Unsighted! I saw it on the hidden gems section of the e-shop yesterday.

I'm waiting until my wife beats BotW before diving into TotK

5
lemmy.world

Just checked out Unsighted, looks pretty good, went to add it to my wishlist and it was already there 😀 I don't even remember when I added it. How are you enjoying it?

If you are playing BOTW too, I would suggest not jumping in TotK right away, it can cause burn out, but if you weren't playing that should be fine.

2
Faisreply
lemm.ee

I beat BotK, I played that shit endlessly on release.

And unsighted is good! It's simpler but excellent. It's worth it

2
lemmy.world

Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door. I prefer the GameCube and Wii era because my childhood.

5
Ippeireply
lemmy.world

Really fun game. Personally, I like the newer ones as well (especially Origami King) but I take them for what they are: a different series by the same name. Although I'm probably a bit of a heretic since Super Paper Mario is my favorite.

3

I actually did get Origami King on release year, it's the best of the new games for sure. I did play Super Paper Mario a while back as well. I remember liking the flip mechanic, and that it had the best story.

2
lemmy.world

Still ToTK. I started strong when it first came out, but haven't had as much time until recently.

4

No worries, it happens. I didn't get much last week either. And mostly play an average of an hour/day.

1
lemmy.ca

Deaths Door for me! Almost halfway through. Finished Tunic a few weeks ago and this has been a good follow-up to that

4
lemmy.world

Great couple of games. Both are on my list, would like to play them soon.

How did you like them both?

2
lemmy.ca

Really good. I could barely put tunic down at some points.

Prepare to die a lot in both.

4

Yeah, heard they are both tough ones.

After TotK I am going to play a few smaller games, haven't decided which ones yet. May give them a try then.

1
Zed
lemmy.world

Still playing Tears of The Kingdom myself, 225 hours in I have one last temple and a few side quests here and there so I'm almost done with it and I have no idea what I'll be doing next lol.

4
Zedreply
lemmy.world

That's mainly because I don't like using fast travel and I explore a lot heh

4

TotK still, but also been switching (get it) between New Pokemon Snap and Fire Emblem: Engage. I just got OG Pokemon Snap for my N64 in the mail today so I'm probably going to drop the new for the old this week. Also thinking about keeping on theme and starting a playthrough of Pokemon Trading Card Game on Gameboy

4

Congratulations on getting the OG Pokeman Snap! Looking like you are going to have a fun weekend!

2

Which one? Aren't there two of them?

And how are you liking them? I saw mixed comments about them on reddit when they were released. I am not much into party games, so didn't check in detail.

1
lemmy.world

About to finish 13 sentinels & got spiritfarer and both portals in queue.

4
lemmy.world

Spiritfarer and Portal 1 & 2 are all great games. Have fun!

How are you liking 13 Sentinels? It's on my wish list.

2
fruityreply
lemmy.world

If you're into the (primarily sci-fi) story, it's really good. Bit confusing gameplay-wise in the beginning, but clears up quickly and them becomes confusing story-wise, which actually is kinda the point. I liked it a lot, even the battles which seem to be the part most complained about. I would however suggest picking it up on sale and not paying full price as it's not exactly replayable.

3

What I am more interested then Shrines, is collecting all the armor pieces. Though I doubt I'll be able to complete them.

1
lemmy.world

Pokémon Sword, surprisingly enough! Still have some Dynamax Adventures to wrap up. Aside from that, I'll probably sweep my SV raids to see if I can land a shiny Gimmighoul, then go back to TotK.

4
lemmy.world

I am keeping up with TotK. Well over 100 hours but I may spend some time in Pokémon Scarlet chasing Gimmighoul and Chesnaught.

4
lemmy.world

How far along are you in TotK?

And good luck with Gimmighoul and Chesnaught!

1
Dougasreply
lemmy.world

After 100 hours I've completed 2 of the 4 temples and gathered all the memories. Besides that I've just been completing shrines and doing some side quests.

Also thanks, I really want a shiny Gimmighoul.

3
lemmy.world

Wow, 100 hours and just 2 temples, you are doing some real exploration.

2
Dougasreply
lemmy.world

Most of the time I end up getting lost in the world chasing a shrine or some landmark

2
lemmy.world

I'm also still on tears of the kingdom. My current goal is to finally do the airways to get the faeries to open up so i can upgrade my armor. Don't have so much free time these days, so I expect that to last me until super Mario wonder comes out.

4

Hope you have been hoarding stuff to upgrade the armour. They need wide variety of stuff to upgrade.

Enjoy your time with it, it's rare to get game of this quality, so have fun!

Found this hidden gem (for me at least) "Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon" really like this game.

Have been thinking to try out other Bayonetta's too, even thought they are different style of games.

4
lemmy.world

Yeah, I don't think it's a hidden gem, but I haven't seen many people play it. How are you liking the game.

I am in the opposite boat, I have played the other Bayonetta (thought only the first one) but not the Cereza and the Lost Demon.

2
Vannireply
programming.dev

I first tried the demo of the game. Didnt expect to like it, but found myself really enjoying the art style and specially story. Havent finished the game yet, sadly I dont have as much time to playing games as I use to.

3

sadly I dont have as much time to playing games as I use to.

Happens to all of us, don't worry about it.

I'll give the demo a try, once I have gone through Bayonetta 2 and 3. Thanks for the heads up.

2

I plan to continue playing original Metroid prime and start to play Super Mario Galaxy again.

4

Ah, nice. I had been waiting for Prime 1 remake release for a while, but then it shadow dropped, and now there are so many games I haven't gotten the chance to even try it.

Have fun!

1

I've taken a step back from gaming this week. It was a busy one.

Still, I'm making pretty good progress on totk. Great game.

I got a 4070 for my birthday. So I tore my whole PC apart to dust out every nook and cranny. It replaced an R9 290. Other specs: 24 GB DDR3, i7-4790K running on Z97, 1 TB NVMe SSD and 8 TB HDD (I don't mind a loading screen)

I previously had 4 3,000 RPM server fans keeping it cool because I was running dual R9 290s in the thing air cooled. When you have two 94° cards, there's a ton of hot air coming from the thing. It'll heat a room quite effectively.

I'm down to a single 140mm 700 RPM fan in back and a single 120mm 800-2000 RPM fan in front. It's gone from being as loud as my vacuum cleaner to near silent. And in testing, my GPU never hits 70°. My 290 ran 85-90 playing Wind Waker with Hypatia's HD texture pack. My 4070 doesn't even get to 50° after an hour of play. And my intake fan doesn't even have to ramp up. It's so nice having a quiet PC again.

It's gonna be pushing 100°F outside this weekend so I'll be staying inside and hiding from the weather. Maybe I'll mow on Monday morning since it's supposed to be a lot cooler. Need to replace my busted garbage disposal. But when I'm not doing those things, I'll probably STILL be playing Tears. I think I'm up to 70 hours.

4

Wow, I didn't understood most of what you said, except, you got a better GPU and what was quite a load for previous one, is nothing for this one. And your PC is quieter because of that.

That sounds great. Congratulations on your new gear. Are you planning to play something to test the limits? Something that will make it scream too?

Good luck hiding from the weather and playing more TotK!

2
hoodlem.me

More Pokémon Violet for me. I’ve finished the game but I find raiding relaxing.

3
kbin.social

I think I've decided to place Diablo 4 and TotK on the back burner and get back to the Xenoblade 3 DLC. I didn't get far in because of TotK (which I have a lot left to play as well) so it'll be nice to focus on that for a bit.

3

I am VERY excited for the DLC. It was very tough to decide between that or TotK. I really love Xenoblade series, and XC3 is my favourite, and now to get a DLC bringing together all the games...

I am not going to get it before finishing TotK though. I would be distracted between both games. So, going to finish TotK and then get the DLC.

1
lemmy.world

Nice! How are you liking Trails to Zero? I want to complete the Trails in the Sky series first, have played first on steam, was hoping for the Switch release, but I guess I would have to complete the whole series on PC.

2

Love it is the best rpg i have played in years After I finsh it I go onto Azure and hopefully in time for Dragon Quest monster 3

2
lemmy.world

I keep playing TotK and I'm also 65 hours in. I'm taking my time exploring, doing side quests and shrines every now and then. I haven't even been to the south west part of Hyrule!

I'll probably be playing Mortal Kombat 11 (just got all the DLC at 70% discount on the eshop today) and probably some Overcooked 2 or beat em ups with my girlfriend.

I'm supposed to be getting the physical version of Doom Eternal next week from Limited Run Games, looking forward to that!

3
lemmy.world

I just went to South west part one day before. Was holding on the final regional quest before that and doing some side quests. What made me go there instead of doing some more exploration was the Tears. Need to know more of the story!

MK11 is fun. I am not a big MK player, but playing both 10 and 11 as they were available on PS+. I am looking forward to MK1, looks exciting. What do you think about it?

Doom is great, have fun with your physical copy!

1

I really need to get the memories I have left (I think four?). I just keep getting sidetracked with other fun stuff!

I am looking forward to MK1 too. I've watched the trailers and it looks amazing on the PS5, but it'll still be fun on the Switch if MK11 is anything to go by. It's interesting that it'll be a reboot, I guess it'll appeal to the nostalgia for those of us who first played Mortal Kombat on 16 bits.

I played Doom 2016 on the Switch and it was so much fun, so I have high expectations for Doom Eternal!

2
lemmy.world

I thought the boss of the seventh Palace would be the final boss of the base game in Persona 5 before getting to the extra content. I was wrong. It took me until last night to actually get to the real final boss of the base game (and I luckily beat it on the first try... The mini-boss gauntlet before it was harder than the boss itself, lol). So only now did I actually start the extra semester in Royal. That said, I ordered Tears of the Kingdom this morning and I'll probably get to that sometime this week or next, finally. Excited to start playing it after seeing so much about how it actually lives up to its hype.

3

Persona 5 turned out to be MUCH longer than I expected, and I expected it to be long. My wife kept laughing at me announcing 'I am going to finish it soon, it's almost the end' and then the end didn't happen. Having said that, I immensely enjoyed it all, great game!

2

Congratulations on beating the main game! Now you have until you recieve the copy of TotK to finish the Royal content!

What did you decide about P5 Tactica? Going to give it a try, or skip it?

2
lemmy.world

I have TOTK to play, but I don't have the attention span for video games anymore. I still have another voucher as well. Probably get fire emblem, but no idea how much I'll play either.

3

Well, things happen, life changes, we change. I don't know anything about your life, but in general, if your attention is diverting, maybe it means you aren't enjoying the gaming as much, and perhaps need to take a break.

Or if you are just tired of long games, try some smaller indies, or arcade style games.

Either way, don't worry too much about it. Games are an entertainment, and if you aren't finding them entertaining right now, there is nothing wrong with moving on, at least for a while.

1

I've decided I'll probably use my second voucher on Super Mario Bros Wonder. That shit looks goooood

1
lemmy.world

I am still playing Tears of the Kingdom when I have time to play and I don't foresee that changing anytime soon

3
kbin.social

Still playing EO3, but debating digging into something else too. Just not sure what I'm in the mood for. :)

3
lemmy.world

Maybe try some non-Pokemon monster collecting game, there are many good ones available. Or some puzzly game, like Ghost Trick?

2

Some good suggestions. I'd heard of Ghost Trick and that one did look interesting. :)

3
lemmy.world

Borrowed a couple games from a mate to see if I wanna buy them myself. Luigi's Mansion 3 is a no, but will be buying Mario 3D + Browser's Fury after payday. Also, usually fit in some time on Dorfromantik in the evenings or when stressed.

3
lemmy.world

Why did you like Luigi Mansion 3?

Dorfromantik looks fun. Is it as relaxing as it looks?

1
Sdotreply
lemmy.world

I just found it very slow. A lot of unskippable cut scenes. Yes! So relaxing.

2

Yeah, Luigi Mansion does have that issue. I didn't notice it the first time, because I like to watch the cut scenes, but when I tried to replay it, I just couldn't.

Thanks for the info, will add Dorfromantik to to my list!

2
lemmy.world

I went back and restarted Metroid Prime Remastered. Such an incredible game, and it's so much fun going through it a second time now that I'm more familiar with the game. I'm navigating much more confidently and creatively. Such a good title

3

I need to take a break from Zelda and go back to Metroid Prime and find more stuff so I can get a better ending 😬

3

How much have you played BOTW and how far along are you in TOTK? Also, how many hours yet?

1
lemmy.world

I've paused ToTK for a week or so (35 hours in, only 1 regional questo done lmao) but I may resume this weekend. I need to catch up or I'll never finish that game at this rate, wish I had more time...

Other than that, eventually I want to give MH: Rise another try. Bought it on switch when it came out, played it for a week then dropped.

3
lemmy.world

What have you been playing after pausing TotK?

Yeah, it's a big game, would need some dedication if you want to finish it anytime soon. That being said, you don't have to finish it anytime soon, just play at your own pace, and enjoy.

I have heard great things about Rise, if I end up playing significant amount of MH: World, will give Rise a try too.

3
Ippeireply
lemmy.world

Yeah unfortunately I really didn't have the time necessary to immerse myself in Zelda. Playing in small bursts was starting to feel annoying, so I just quit for a bit. Now that I have a little more time I'm picking it up again. I'm not complaining too much tho, the longer it lasts the better - although I may have to make a tough decision if I don't finish it before Pikmin comes out.

What have you been playing after pausing TotK?

I have been playing some Disgaea 1 on PC. It's a series I've always been curious about and tbh it required me a lot less attention than Zelda. So it was a good distraction.

3

Yeah, I can understand that. Good luck finishing it before Pikimin!

Disgaea is a fun series, but for some reason I couldn't get into it. Glad you are enjoying it.

2
lemmy.world

How are you liking Fallout 76? I am a big Fallout fan, but after the abysmal 76 launch, and all the memes, I have stayed away from it.

Have the improved the game? And how's the gameplay now?

3
Ace_Addamsreply
lemmy.world

The community is fantastic for the most part, we seen to help each other which I love. There's a lot more things to do now, it's still kinda buggy but still fun. They added NPCs which makes things so much better. My advice is find a friend or two on the game and explore the world together. If you have a playstation I'd be willing to play some time.

3
lemmy.world

That's nice. I would like to give it a try sometime, but unfortunately don't have any time right now. Just started Monster Hunter with couple of friends, so can't really start another big game.

Will ask the friends to give it a try when we are done with MH:W. Or ping you, if you are still playing it then. 😀

2

Splitting my time between Cassette Beasts on Switch and D4 and FFXVI on ps5. Cassette Beasts is a great palate cleanser between heavier games.

3
lemmy.world

I am keeping an eye on Cassette Beasts; and D4 and FFXVI are highly anticipated games.

How are you liking all of them?

1
kbin.social

@slimerancher D4 is extremely buggy but feels so good to play. Really enjoying that one. FFXVI is gorgeous but I haven't gotten far yet. Cassette Beasts is super cute and has a LOT of depth to it. Overall very happy with all three of them and would recommend to anyone who likes these genres of games.

2

Ah. Haven't heard about bugs in D4, but glad it's still fun.

Yeah, all of these games are on my wishlist. I heard Cassette Beasts had some performance issues, are they solved now?

1
lemmy.world

Nice! How far along are you? I just started it with a few friends, we are still in the start, just reached Tobi-Kadachi.

The co-op is a mess in this game, you all have to separately go on a mission, then watch cut scenes, then everyone except one needs to abandon quest, and join one person's quest. Hope Capcom makes it simpler in next versions.

2
Cruxifuxreply
lemmy.world

Yeah co-op story mode is annoying as fuck. The whole “wait till the cutscene” thing annoys me. My wife just started playing and doing the story with her is annoying, BUT MH also gives you extra bonuses for helping low level players so it’s actually worth it. They had good ideas and bad ones in there.

Im about a quarter of the way through iceborne main story right now. This game gets pretty addictive.

3
lemmy.world

Ah, well, we are all pretty much at same level, so haven't noticed any benefit of helping anyone else 😀

Yeah, the game is really fun, but we kind of only have one night in the week, so not sure how long we can play the game like this. It takes a lot of time.

2
Cruxifuxreply
lemmy.world

Oh man, this game is a grind. But if you don’t get the expansion it’s not that bad for length, and doing it with friends is certainly easier.

If you decide to get the expansion it’s a lot more of a grind.

2
lemmy.world

Well, we decided to do the main game first, and see if we even like it enough to continue, before deciding on whether we go for expansion or not. Let's see how long we can keep it going.

1
Cruxifuxreply
lemmy.world

That’s not a bad idea. If you get stuck on a monster use the SOS feature. No shame in having a more experienced player help you, it’s basically how you have to play late game.

2
lemmy.world

I'm 75% of the way through Advance Wars 2 (from the Advance Wars Reboot-Camp remake). I normally get ~3 levels done per play session, but the last stage of Yellow Comet was more difficult than usual. I'm thinking these last stages are just harder than all the earlier stages.

I might try a hard-mode run, or maybe I start playing competitive (erm... casual-level competitive. I dunno about beating the grandmasters in this game but I kinda wanna see where people are).

3
lemmy.world

I was very hyped for Advanced Wars, but then they delayed it, and then released it couple of weeks before Zelda, so haven't gotten a chance to play it yet. Glad to see people are enjoying it.

Competitive can be interesting, though I doubt I would be hold off against the pros.

2

That's cool. With so many games, I don't think I would get the chance to play it any time soon. Let's hope this sells enough for Nintendo to make newer games in the series.

2
kbin.social

I'm desperately trying to find time for TotK. I tried going to (end the game) and had to leave because I needed materials and meals. I managed to get extremely far in the game but work made progress impossible for the last two weeks...

3

Yeah, adult life is annoying like that. You can't get money to buy games without work, and with work, you have so little time to play. What to do? What to do?

1

I was so happy I could replay Katamari on my switch, I spent countless hours on the PS2 rolling around.

1

I'll see if I can finish chapter 3 of Dragon Quest Builders 1 on the switch today.

Got a bit pissed and had to put the game down for a bit after chapter 2 because the boss trashed my town during the fight. I had to rebuild the town after, it doesn't feel right leaving my poor villagers in that state.

But yeah, still a very fun game.

2

Yeah, I remember not liking the part where boss destroys the town. It built it so lovingly, and he came and just smashed it.

It's a great game. I am not a fan of minecraft, but loved Dragon Quest Builders. Should play the 2nd one sometimes...

Etrian Odyssey at last, and Noob the factionless on ROG Ally + A Wonderful Life on ps5 later!

2
lemmy.world

How is Noob the Factionless? It looks interesting, but I have no idea about the IP, and the trailer didn't seems to explain much game play either.

Also, how are you finding ROG Ally? Heard there were lots of issues with the launch?

1
cutecyclereply
lemmy.world

I'm not super far, but it seems neat so far! I know nothing about the media franchise, and wasn't sure about the aesthetic, but there is this cozy 2008-mmo-cringe to it that I like. It's a fairly standard JRPG

The ally has been great for me. I only use GOG, which works best on windows, so there was a lot of jank on steam deck. I know there's been some controversy about performance with updates, but I'm not running tons of benchmarks or AAA. It's been smooth so far!

2

That sounds fun, will give it a try when I get some time.

Glad to hear that it's working great for you. It's nice to see handhelds making a come back.

2

Rayman Legends I assume? Amazing game, maybe the best 2D platformer I've ever played.

3

Which ones? The first Wolfenstein and Half Dead? And what about Rayman? Playing them all on PC?

2

Hopefully a full weekend of Baldurs Gate 3.

Minesweeper is a pretty good game. Which one are you playing? The one included with Windows? Or some other version?

2

If Microsoft started releasing DLC for Minesweeper they'd make more money than the Acti-Bliz acquisition will ever make them.

Slowly collecting all the rare crops in Story of Seasons AWL. I wish I started earlier cause they make good money.

I didn't even know there is anything like rare crop in Story of Seasons.

How are you enjoying the game?

Yeah there's a ton it's just really tedious if you want a lot unless you start early and use the seed maker. I'm still addicted to the game tho especially since my son is now a teenager and picking his career

2

Ah, okay. Got it. Thanks! Though I am not sure if you are talking about your actual son, or in-game one. 😀

I'm moving four hours across the country but I've been playing paper Mario 64 again on nso and having a blast. Basically killing time waiting for pikmin 4 !

I am also playing zelda, but been jumping back and forth between it and Pokemon snap 64

2

How are you enjoying both games? And how far along are you in Zelda?

Also, if you care about it, someone recently created a community for sharing "snaps" from Pokemon Snap. https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected] (Making a relative link doesn't seem to be working at my end for some reason, so just shared the direct link)

2

Help, I am still playing Tears of the Kingdom. I have 5 shrines left. I went into Hyrule Castle and it's scary and I don't like it.

2

Wow, only 5 shrines left. Maybe some food that increases your attack power or your defense, might be helpful to calm your nerves!

Tears. I play games for a long time, so it’ll be another couple months with it.

Same here. Finished Xenoblade Chronicles in 6+ months. Though, when the game takes over a month or so, I usually add some smaller games to mix.

How far along are you? and how are you liking it?

Love it. It’s basically the same game as Breath of the wild, but the underground and sky island increase the map even more. Then the added building and fusing weapons makes it way more fun to play. I’ve finished the first three temples and am on to the last now.

2

Yeah, the new abilities make the game completely different.

Good luck with the last temple!

I’m playing Pikmin 1 HD (I couldn't really wait for the physical edition as I had previously stated). I'm having a blast so far, played 6 days and got 10 spaceship pieces.

I remember being terrified of the time constraint in the game (30 days to get 30 pieces) when I first played it 20 years ago, but my experience with Pikmin 3 makes the game really much more manageable and enjoyable now. The Switch version, even if it's a simple HD port with some very minor tweaks, is really enjoyable.

Looking forward to starting Pikmin 2 HD, probably next week.

2

Yeah, I was a bit on the fence about 1 & 2, but KotActually made a post about it yesterday, giving a mini review on the state of Pikmin 1, and I am quite excited about it now.

Looking forward to finally have the time to play it.

Tears of the Kingdom, so much to do. Might also sprinkle in some Persona 5 Strikers, it's been in my backlog for a while now.

2

Yeah, that's what I keep saying, there's so much to do!

I haven't played Persona 5 yet, but plan to try P5S after that, if I enjoy the game. I wasn't much interested in mousu games in general, but after playing Age of Calamity, I am open to the genre, as long as it's linked to some IP I like.

Played a lot of Mr. Suns Hat Box until I ran into a bug that sometimes spawns an invisible wall art the start of some levels. Since the invisible wall is effectively a death sentence for the character, and most of the game is playing with the risk/reward of character building, I'm just done with it.

I've also been enjoying Mini Motor Racing X. It's a fantastic port.

2

Haven't heard of either of them, they both look fun.

That bug in Mr. Suns Hat Box sounds unfortunate, maybe ping the devs, they may have some solution planned.

Still on TOTK. Finished all regional quests, got about 54 shines. All skybtowers are unlocked. About 20% of the underworld is unlocked and sky islands I'd say like 50%? Maybe more. Maybe 75% just doing side quests atm.

2

Oooh, I am almost reaching the same point. All Skytowers done, and doing the last regional quest. Was kind of stuck at a certain point in the quest (spoiler: throne room), but it was late night, maybe the solution will be obvious when I am not half sleepy.
