Specifically, two wheels. I bought an e-scooter!
I've been off wheels for more than two years. I loaned my parents my car, as they live in a car-centric area and I don't, and now it's just my Mom still living and she's never been in a position to give it back.
Mobility = freedom.
I AM SO EXCITED.
Which scooter did you get?
I purchased an InMotion S1F last year, them my wife took it over. So i upgrade to an RS Jet. I have had the jet about a month and already have 75 miles/120km on it.

I got a Segway Ninebot Max G3 Electric Scooter.
I was tempted to get one of the performance scooters that goes 40-50 mph, but I don't really need it, and nearly everyone I know who scoots recommends Segway as a brand.
My first scooter tops out at 15.6mph. My current I have had over 30mph, however state law limits that to 20mph. I really like the new scooter, but if I had realized about the limiting law I would have gone for something a little smaller.
I only need to be able to go just fast enough that cars around me will be less likely to whip around, but thankfully there are lots of residential roads I can use around here, so my hope is to not have to be on the main roads all the time.
I do most of my scooting through residential areas too.
Also, watch as the battery gets lower. If it I'd like mine, your percentage is going to drop really quick under 40%.
I went out to take an ~3 mile ride this morning. I left the house at 37%, got to the farmer's market 2/3rds of a mile and was at 34%. Left the farmer's market and a block later was under 30%. I ended up turning around early and walked it a ways home. I got home at 2%.

segway is solid, though overpriced. they're like the Apple of e-scooters
Yeah, I was able to beat the price somewhat by finding someone selling one they were using as a demo model in their store, so it's basically new (only 4 miles on it) but I got it for $850 instead of $1200. They are pricey, and getting pricier thanks to the war and tariffs.

E-scooters are a blast! I’ve put nearly 500 miles on mine.
I'm lucky to live in a city with a five-mile long free commuter train, but having it is going to open up so much of the city that's not easily or economically reachable right now. It's gonna be great.
congrats!! i got mine a few months ago, you're gonna love it. get a good lock! i recommend a heavy chain. also be sure not to drain your battery below 20% ever. 30% is safer.
i live about 10km (6mi) from downtown, so I ended up adding an extra battery so I didn't have to worry about losing power after cruising. now I get about 80km(55mi) to a charge, going about 50km/hr(35mi/hr)
Hey, thanks for the advice! Is it easy to integrate a second battery, or is this just a plug-and-play kind of deal?
Honestly, I'm strong enough to fold and carry it everywhere, so I'm not going to bother with a lock. I'd rather keep it on my person.
it wasn't super easy, I had to buy a couple cables and adaptors, and a bag to carry the battery, which I strapped to my steering column. worth it if you need extra range.
i lock it to bike racks. not every place will let you bring it inside.
