I suspect that they consider separation for cause as something different from separation without cause. The article doesn't explain the term, and I think that it is a pretty bad journalistic lapse.
They're in a recession. They just don't know it yet because the numbers are fudged by the AI bubble.

Which is ready to bring down everything with it. Nobody has ever seen anything like what is coming up. I am happy to be in a stable university position, let me tell you.
