The brands that Australians are now hating on, and why

Archived version

It is clearly thematic that we trust the brands of physical stores. No surprise that Bunnings and Aldi rank one and two respectively. But they are also in the company of retail peers including Kmart, Apple, Big W, Myer, JB Hi-Fi and Australia Post inside the top 10 for trust.

The remainder of the brands that comprise the 10 least trusted brands are less about the industry in which they sit and have more aberrant reasons for their inclusion.

Big W good, Woolworths bad. Alright.

This list just proves to me that I have no idea what's going on in other people's heads.

Yeah, and bunnings is part of the Coles group. They've bulldozed small hardware stores to form a monopoly.

Not quite, Coles was spun off from Wesfarmers years ago - it’s its own thing now, unlike Woolies/Big W.

I've given up trying to understand the addiction Australians have to the Big Four banks. Even after all the scandals they just keep going back. Sorry, but I'm out of all sympathy now. The next time these people get fucked over I will just laugh very loudly at them.

5

Yeah. Same. I got with, ew why are you with them, if people tell me they're with the worst offenders. It's so easy to look up now, too. No excuse.

Yeah that's how they hook everyone. It was fine when it was a publicly owned bank.

Wait, the dolomites program is still around? I was joking about my old account from before the bank was privatised.

Actually, I'm not sure if they're still allowed in schools, it's not been long gone, if it is.... looked it up, closed in 2022.

I had to go in-person to a branch with ID, but once I was there it was pretty quick.

That's even stupider of them, they would have lived through the great scam stuff they did that saw thousands lose their life savings and retirement funds.

lot of stupid and hateful people out there, look at the rise of One Nation, Labor still in Government, The Libs etc

1

Omg I could do some lengthy rants on the current rates of media illiteracy and the rise of one nation (supported by Rupert Murdoch and the want to turn Australia into the US) Gina who visits Trump regularly, backing Pauline financially.

How is Australia Post below the other 9 on the list?

People are deep in Bunnings advertising, damn.

Optus being the worst definitely checks out though

Bunnings certainly is a monopoly that destroyed pretty much every local hardware business.

The whole cheaper prices thing is of course bullshit when they carry so many exclusive product lines.

But the flip side. They have been really good at honouring product warranties in my experience.

Bunnings prices are fucked. When my local super cheap auto stopped stocking isopropyl (750ml, $17) went to Bunnings. $27 for 500ml.

Now I have a 5L tub because fuck Bunnings and that ridiculous price.

4

I've definitely moved away from Bunnings. It's a shame because it's a store I used to enjoy.. but now just go to more individualized shops

4

Transcend from hating the individuals or companies to hating the lifestyle culture that helped create them. Go after the cause. Otherwise they will keep coming back.

an all those are the reason people are shopping directly online from China.

it's the same rubbish but without the high price

3

What an absurdly weird comment. Chinese brands are among the least trusted, and there are a lot of brands people trust, but they apparently don't trust brands from China.

Partner has had the living fuck abused out of them by both HammerBarn and Post. Awful organisations, but hard to avoid. Extra fun we now turn up on the camera system as to be followed around by bumbling fools who couldn't hide in a blackoutroom.
