Guys, I heard that Taylor Swift stands for Take All You Like, O Rebel, Satan Will Intercede For Thee.

290

I like "Will Incentivise For This" but the people who would believe it wouldn't know the meaning of the word

6

Ok but for reals though, Taylor Swift is an intentional genetic clone of Anton LaVey's daughter Zeena Schreck, who was high priestess of the church of Satan 👹

Oh wow - I thought our neighbor when I was a teenager had come up with this one themselves, when they warned my parents I was listening to satanic music.

Nothing in the universe is faster than the evangelical misinformation hate and fear pipeline

"No, mom, I'm going to a party! With drugs! And alcohol! I swear!"

"You can't fool me, sonny! I know you don't get invited to parties. You're going to play Dragons and Dungeons with that group of nerds you call your friends, aren't you!"

"...yes, mom..."

"Now go to your room and think about what you've done. Pray to the Lord for mercy, and don't come out again until God sends you a sign that he has forgiven you!"

I'd argue it never truly ended and was the birth of the modern "culture war".

Honestly if you look at the 90s through 2000s people were claiming the same stuff about pokemon and Harry Potter.

22

There were plenty of people claiming that the Wicked movie was witchcraft. Things have not changed.

All the way back to the witch trials... and in some isolated pockets today

There is a band called ACxDC and that stands for Antichrist Demoncore.

They're vegan straight edge satanists.

They're vegan, they're straight edge (don't drink or do drugs and take a stance against those things) and are satanists, in the anti-religious poking fun at Christianity sense. Don't think they actually worship Satan.

Even 7 year old me knew it was Alternating Current/Direct Current. Did none of them actually ever work with a kitchen appliance from the 70s?

56

Alternating Current/Direct Current

The only songs they've done even relevant to their name is Dirty Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap) and T.N.T. Specifically the lines that say "HIGH VOLTAGE!", "I'm a powerload" and "I'm a livewire"

46

well, if you were the one struck they'd be pretty close together...

1

Live Wire would also fall into that category, I would think. explicit mention of live wires setting things on fire

Wow, an anti-christ/devil's child brand sewing machine. Truly evil.

41

Sewing is the devil's work. Repairing clothes denies god-appointed clothing retail owners their divinely appointed profits.

This is disrespectful to Satan. I mean the man invented Jazz to corrupt the youth and you think he's wasting his time with dumb-ass boomer blues-rock? What a downgrade, no wonder Satan hates Christians.

Ok first off, AC/DC isn’t just a national treasure, it’s a good damn species treasure. So how fucking dare you.

I'm apologize. I didn't mean to insult a SPECIES TREASURE.

How could I have guessed a people should be so culturally impoverished? America produced jazz, blues, and rock and roll: I should check my privilege.

You’re god damn right you should!

don’t get mad man, these are just jokes and shit posting

AC/DC are pretty legendary dude. And you're going to have some Aussies trying to figure out where you live

21

The worst part about Aussies is that you can't just outlast them and hide in the desert since they too are adapted for such environments. Upside is the sidewinders and lizards who shoot blood from their eyes might catch them off guard on occasion.

AC means Alternating Current, electrical current that periodically reverses direction, and DC means Direct Current, a current that continuously flows in one direction. AC/DC on a socket means it can take both types of power.

25
lemmy.world

So see, power intake is a spectrum… some devices are born AC, some DC. Some devices however go both ways. It’s natural. However some organizations like the IEC want to force their narrow world view on everyone.

23

There were many rumours about the singer of AC/DC was bisexual because of all that (that the name came from it IIRC), he has debunked it numerous times.

Musicians. In a time without Wikipedia. Nobody could look up things back then.

9

I'm getting too old to be sure anymore whether these are jokes or not

3

Take that woke nonsense back to Europe with you: we all know there is only one way: they do not “take both”. /s

4

Down here in dullardville they said it meant "After Christ Devil Comes" when I was a kid. I had never heard of them and gave them a try. Funny, that I found out about one of my lifelong favorite bands because useless god bothers made up some stupid shit about them.

Classic Streisand at play "DONT listen to this band cause they are SUPER evil and they are the DEVIL!!!!"

You'd think religious people would eventually learn the harder they try to repress exploration, the more they end up encouraging it. It's more fact than stereotype that the most sexually repressed and sheltered growing up end up becoming the freakiest and kinkiest.

5

Shhhh that's how we ended up with Live and and Evanescence

1

Same thing with KISS. Back in elementary school I remember hearing that it stands for Kids In Satan's Society.

23

I was just thinking about this factoid the other day.

More evidence of the secret brain chip that must have been implanted one day while I was drunk...

Fun fact, factoid actually means something that sounds true but isn't.

5

Fun Fact/Factoid, use to be true, but like everything else, we've used it wrong for so long it's considered to be either

A factoid was originally defined to mean a false statement presented as a fact.[1][2] In colloquial speech, it is often used to mean a true but brief or trivial item of news or information (which can be less ambiguously described as a "factlet").

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Factoid

an insignificant or trivial fact.

something fictitious or unsubstantiated that is presented as fact, devised especially to gain publicity and accepted because of constant repetition.

https://www.dictionary.com/browse/factoid

1

Nowadays you can look up things on the web before naming them. Well, you could. Many still don't.

2

Fun story: I once (seriously) tried to start a 3d printing company called bad dragon. After getting cards and launching the etsy store i discovered that name was taken. Always Google first.
