In this case, for me, what made it nice is that in each step I saw the figure going forward. I was able to understand what was going on the whole time. Sometimes if there's too much precreasing or makes you unfold the last bunch of steps it feels burdensome.
You could even tell some some sort of tale describing the process: we'll start making the tail and these will be the legs, they are thick...
Other times what makes it nice is a satisfactory collapse or a clever locking mechanism.
