I am this, exactly.

We had such hopes in 1993. I was not raised to love Reagan. The mood had shifted and there was fresh energy about what the future might hold. Old symbols were falling. Gen X was raising its voice. We had about a decade of this, then the Supreme Court more or less decided the presidency. The WTC attack killed any remaining momentum.

I didn't know the seeds were already there, festering, for this heinous timeline we're enduring. But now that I've arrived in the last panel, I see the horrible, efficient logic of it all. Capitalism is the means by which a generation of grasshoppers turned into a plague of locusts.

They both have to go.

It is 2035 & I am an assisted living nurse. Recent law has allowed me to euthanize the elderly because the baby-boomers are dying in mass numbers and human infrastructure & greed didn't account for a mass-exit from livin' easy.

Only the poor elderly, of course. It will never apply to the wealthy and powerful.
