Lunch in Surrey Hills. Nice to get out of the house (WFH has made me a hermit).

7

There are some good spots around there. Wish it was a more regular option for me

Cycled back from the girlfriend's place. Easy enough ride with the battery assist. So much nicer than driving.

7

Got back on my bike last week and hot damn did it feel good!! Just a shitty time of year to pick it back up.

ok, so I cried because these allergies are wearing me down ๐Ÿ˜ฟ

had been taking cough medicine and difflam for 1.5 days, cough symptoms worsened

seems i was allergic and had a crisis,

how the fuck, when cough symptoms are nearly the same how could I tell what's what

but the dizziness and throat tightening/wheezing were allergy symptoms

my cough symptoms are practically zero now, just a bit of a headache from the allergy crisis

have been relaxing since and I think by tomorrow I will be fine

miss seagoon came over , which was nice

I don't know why this happening, might be a long covid symptom. Will talk to the allergy doc soon.

am playing lovely music that makes me happy ๐Ÿ™‚

Back to Melbs today.

Solid w/e.

NBN upgrade w/ 600Mbps down 50 up โœ”๏ธ Which is pretty wild considering this place is sort of semi rural.

Hot sauce blended โœ”๏ธ

Spring rolls made โœ”๏ธ

Yelling at a clothesline that needs moving.. because a few screws won't budge โœ”๏ธ

Subwoofer rumbling again โœ”๏ธ

Didn't hurt myself โœ”๏ธ

::: spoiler I'm grumpy this morning. Fuck you Adobe and your stupid fucking subscription bullshit. :::

Premiere Pro is the worst of the big video editors I've used but I go back to it because of its transcription feature.

I'm almost considering buying the studio version of Davinci Resolve to get the same thing instead.

And codec compatibility can be so hit and miss on Linux I've had to go back to Windows to do my editing

What do you say about Premiere's AI-powered masking? It looks absolutely best-in-class at the moment but I haven't looked at it in a few months.

I haven't looked into it yet. I'm just making basic reel style videos. The auto transcription saves a lot of time, but I almost think I end up taking as long going in and tidying them up

Look, anything to knock Adobe down several pegs.

You can even set up a locally run LLM through Kdenlive for transcription. I've set it up on linux, but maybe I should do it again to save myself a few hundred bucks

I use Shutter Encoder for a lot (basic trimming etc)... have you heard of his other product Shutter Transcriber? It's literally a packaged model with a GUI and it's about 10 EUR if I remember correctly. I can't vouch for it but Paul that makes it is a good dude and is active on reddit for bugs and features.

(I've tried to set up models locally but 1. my laptop has an AMD GPU and running the raw models generally prefers/requires Nvidia and 2. I only know enough to get started but not what to do when I hit a brick wall with Python dependencies etc.)

1

Depends entirely on the day, but Iโ€™m fond of the Japanese breakfasts at Operator San

3

Coming home to an empty house is bumming me out.

Can't wait till I move. No one wants to travel to whoop whoop to hang out lol

5

As someone who has always lived in the burbs, I know what you mean. But the way I look at it, if someone is too snobby to visit me and always expects me to be the one making the effort to visit them, then thatโ€™s not a great friendship and itโ€™s ok if it tapers off. Itโ€™s also good if you can make some local connections. Thereโ€™s sports clubs, book clubs, community garden groups, etc depending on what youโ€™re into.

2

Damn, bought the wrong lentils. I need the French ones for a grain salad, and I have regular green ones which will turn mushy when cooked. They are good for dahl or soup but not great for a salad. Canโ€™t be bothered to go out to the shops so will make something else.

4

I made a roast chicken with gravy and vegies

it was such a good dinner, very nourishing and soothed my throat

yes, I'm totes miserable

Feeling a bit bleh today. Generally flat, headache, upset stomach etc. Right at that 'do I call in sick for work or not?' line, which is really annoying because I tend to get really indecisive when I'm not feeling well. I've ended up erring on the side of caution and not going in. I think I'm right on the line where I'd go in for a day shift, but I'm not up for a night shift.

So I think I've finally got the hang of Infinity Nikki and suspect it'll become a problem for me. Low stakes, run around and collect cute outfits, solve puzzles and get shiny stars. There's a helluva lot to it for a gacha game, I had no idea. But I'm really enjoying it!

I heard for the boss 'fights' people just put on the ugliest combos because they have the highest stats. It's funny that a game all about dressing up and looking cute forces you to just optimise around numbers instead of putting together the most cohesive outfit

2

I saw someone describe the fights as the biggest jump scare in the game because you go from your lovingly curated outfit to a mish mash of random pieces with highest stats. It's hilarious! Winning against the Sovereign of Cool while wearing the most bizarre combo gave me quite the giggle.

Ooooh, sexy! Half a tic, wasn't this written by James 1/IV? In the 1600s? 1494 seems a bit early or was it by another perpetrator?

2

An unpleasant chap named Kramer. The first edition is 1486. James I/VI had a nasty witch obsession, but didn't write it.

3

Errrk. Don't know this Kramer bloke - other than Friends I guess and that only by repute.
