A friend of mine has a situation on Bluesky social while sharing Democratic stuff, and he can't even get help on the BlueskySocial subreddit because Reddit's filters are deleting his posts.

I'm trying to find out where I can get help for a friend of mine who is on Bluesky Social. He has been trying to post about his situation over on the r/BlueskySocial subreddit, but his posts kept getting deleted by Reddit's filters, and I don't know who he can contact to get help and I'm wondering who can help me.

Hi, I'm the one who is having the situation on Bluesky and I forgot that I can post here from Mastodon, which I'm already on. Here is a screenshot of what is going on and when I tried to post it to BlueskySocial on Reddit.

Based on the last link, it sounds like OP has been placed on a blocklist by a moderation tool

"This service labels asymmetrically:

Offending accounts outside the community are usually labeled at the account level so abuse is highlighted universally. Experience on X shows that one-time abusers are typically repeat offenders. Post-by-post moderation does not scale.

For offenders within the community, granular content labeling is preferred. Account-level labeling is reserved for the worst offenders and requires a two-thirds super-majority of the team to approve. The moderation service must not become a disruptor.

This approach helps with managing the load as the platform grows, and to ensure users are aware of content violations before they engage with an account. Specifically, 60/40 propagandists mix fact with disinformation to sow disruption in democracies. A user innocently engaging with the account based on the factual content needs to know the context.

There is no plan to act as a verifier of friendly accounts. Send moderation Appeals and other inquiries to here. Appeals of Label actions that are not justified in the service's immutable history will be automatically approved. Denial appeals will be supported by provision of relevant moderation history, redacted to remove private information for the protection of moderators."

That's helpful, indeed, thank you for helping the querent. I'm also wondering (not having any idea what the "offending" post is) if @[email protected] actually posted disinfo or if it was accurate information that contradicts the official narrative? 🤔

2

I don't think there is an "official narrative" enforced on mastodon, is there ? They're not a monolith controlled by a billionaire/govt as far as I'm aware. They're a federation / subset of the fediverse I thought.

Anyway, the way I read that page is that it's an optional block list for the instances that choose to use it. Could be wrong.

2

I imagine it's like Lemmy: it depends on the instance and the owner's personal bent.

Whoops, this happened on bluesky. Still having coffee.

@Maeve

Yeah, the issue is I don't know what 'offending' post it is that triggered this whole mess to begin with so that I could investigate and remove it. I'm usually mostly sharing stuff from democratic orgs that I receive emails from on Bluesky Social carefully, and I don't know what it could have been that someone thought was disinfo or offensive, because no one bothers to let me know in DM. If they did, I would investigate and remove it and filter all further emails from that org to trash.

@Maeve

I'm just catching up here and trying not to go too fast. I just saw the solution that @thanksforallthefish had spoonfed me, and I will send an email to that admin address shown to see if I get an answer from it.

Also, I will at least look at the GitHub today to see if anything there is of help to me.

Alright, I read through this and have sent an appeal to that admin account hoping to get to the bottom of this.

However, as soon as I read the moderation policy, I saw that the target community is anybody involved in the fight for democracy against rising authoritarianism, and that is enough to have me believe this is far-right shit going on.

People in favour of democracy and against authoritarianism are "far-right" in your view ?

Good lord.

Fascists love authoritarianism and hate democracy. You may want to have a search as to what far-right mean

1

Re-read the page and its links, it says the exact opposite of what you're reading it as.

They're pro-democracy, anti-authoritarian. They are/claim to be against the state sponsored authoritarianism propaganda being pushed by a number of govts (USA, Russia, etc).

Whether they are or not, I genuinely don't care or care to investigate further, but you have most certainly mis-read their claimed position

Hi again, my registration on pawb.social just got approved, and I found my way back here via there, but I don't see any of my posts via Mastodon showing here for some reason. I will have to still look via Mastodon to see them and the responses I got.

You reached the end
