Have you noticed this phenomena on forums

Every time I search something like "Why is X bad?" on reddit or other forums, the majority of comments is always people arguing the exact opposite. This has been my experience countless times over the years. Recently I started searching the opposite of what I want to know, like "Why is X good?", and it works flawlessly.

That's essentially Cunningham's Law in action - "the best way to get the right answer on the internet is not to post a question - it's to post the wrong answer."

This plus a dose of a natural disdain for being given an answer in the question.

The proper way to phrase a question should be "what is your opinion on X?". Asking why X is good forces me to accept your assumption that it is good.

I see it on here too. Some people really feel strongly the opposite. Some people kind of just want to be dicks.

I think it depends on how you say it. In general, I think it's a good thing see other people's opinion, especially if you already have a certain bias. IMHO there are very few topics that have only arguments in one direction.

I've noticed the opposite actually, searching "why does X suck" gives me exactly the hate filled responses I was looking for to validate my rage lol

... did you just post "Why are 'Why is X bad?' posts bad?"
