From Wikipedia: According to Serebriakova, the winter came early in that year, there was a lot of snow, but it was warm in the house, so "she started to paint herself in the mirror, entertaining by drawing different small things from her dressing-table".

Wow what a great artist. That painting looks so modern for 1909.
That's what I was thinking. I had to look around the room at some of the objects (like the candle holders up front) to realize it's from on older time.
Yeah and the complete lack of tattoos, piercings, and green hair.
Modernity in the arts starts around 1870.
