That's pretty cool! How hard was it to bend the "3D" sections out without warping the flat base?

It was not easy, but the design is made so that the connection points between the octopus and the base are pretty small (just a section of tentacles) so it ends up working out smoothly enough. The problem is mostly to get a smooth curve, because the metal tends to try to stay flat, and to just bend on one spot, so you need to sort of bend it progressively and work the curve along the shape.

Easy to hurt yourself wearing that, when it catches on clothing or you hug someone or you bend your head forward.

The pointy parts shouldn't be pointy enough to hurt, but you're right that it could get caught on clothing and such...

I had the same thought of the poster you responded to, so I just wanted to explain what I think they also saw.

Aluminium is rigid, and pointy hooks catching in skin can draw blood. Not to say it doesn't look nice :)

But the points are not that pointy so they shouldn't hurt the skin, but yeah, catching on clothes and such is a problem with it, I agree

I don't bend them with my fingers but with pliers and such, so my fingers are safe :p

A water/tear drop 💧 would look cool(instead of the square.) Then anodize it! That'd really pop!

That's a good idea, but I don't have the tools to anodize it... But if I get the budget I might experiment with that!

12v DC power source. Sulfuric acid(battery acid) and distilled water. Rit dye. Some degreaser to clean it would be great. That's about it.

Pretty cheap to DIY a setup. There's videos on YT.

Get some PPE to be safe.
