Sisters of Hat'Naris (15mm)

I'm on a quest to paint every single Dark Elves model from Demonworld, a German 15mm hex-based game from the late 1990s and early 2000s. I'm almost finished, I have only about 60 models left to paint.

Huh, didn't know this was a thing. Looks like the game is owned by FASA these days. They even released a 4th Edition in 2022.

Also, your minis look great. Love the colours and the freehand on the banner.

Yes, but 3rd and 4th edition are completely different games: They got rid of the hex grid and changed the scale to 28mm. They even tried to make it a skirmisher at some point. As far as I know, this never caught on. There can't be more than a few dozend players around, and they usually play 2nd edition. So it's really a dead game.

The minis for both are sold by Ral Partha Europe nowadays. They bought the original moulds and will cast them to order - if they feel like it.

Thanks, it's one of my first attempts of freehand, but I plan to redo all the banners for all the units now.

Ah, I didn't have a look further into it than a quick look over the website. Weird that they seem to have wanted to make it into something else entirely.

You're welcome. Looks way better than my tries of free hands on bigger miniatures. :D Looking forward to seeing the other banners by you then.

Maybe I'll grab some minis too when I need something different than Warhammer and Dropzone Commander.

I guess they were just trying to find a way to sell the miniatures. Hex based games aren't exactly modern and the original game has up to forty individual models in a single unit, with up to five per base. That can look really cool, but I don't think many players outside of historical wargaming are willing to put up with this kind of work.

Hm, can't say that I mind that with Dropzone. Although multibases are only used for infantry, which in turn is only a (vital) part of a force.

I'm intrigued with Demonworld now though.

I really wonder why hex-based games went out of style. It's much more precise and can often be quicker.
