Try looking into the girls camera. Yours has poor color support and is lower resolution.

Secret tip: most of those good looking photos are probably taken with the back camera. The focal length on smartphone front cameras is atrocious for face shapes. It is a very low number (usually like 25mm or less) which gives a wider view angle but causes a lot of distortion and things in the center of a scene to look bigger, while the rear cameras have a higher effective number that makes faces look more square and true to real life.

Change your camera angle and/or height and make sure you have good lighting.

The difference of how much better a person can look by just using a proper dedicated full body camera over a phone camera can be huge. Lens optics is like 50% of what makes a good photo and phone cameras just don’t have the space for good optics.

You're right, but the absolute potato of a camera that was in the Nintendo DSi somehow made everyone look good 😆

Holding it too close and low. Gotta get that arm at full extension, above eyeline, and turn your head slightly to your good side.
