Of course two days before a trip I get the worst period I've had in months. Pain, mess and crying.

But on the other hand... two days until a trip!

Mega sympathy! I'm much enjoying dealing with that less often, but the lack of predictability makes the emotional suckfulness much harder to keep in check. Easier to not be blubbering mega bitch when you know that's the reason

6

No show for 150 days. Started celebrating. Ready to burn the old ningies. Then bang. Fuck. Pass the choccies and don't talk to me. I was so dirty.

SpinMeRoundreply

Mine's pretty regular but still get blindsided by the emotional disaster I become for a few hours until it clicks. Stupid brain.

3

Previously predictable to 13 hours. And possibly PMDD if I'd ever heard of it earlier. Choc/heat/drugs as you need

Typical. Mine loves a good holiday and usually waits until I'm away. Especially if I'm doing something awkward like camping somewhere that doesn't have toilets.

it's because you are relaxed and have less stress hormones

annoying but true

travel often makes periods worse because sitting in very upright positions for long times increases blood pressure to lower half of body

i know flight absolutely fucked with my cycle. If I was on the rag, it stopped. if I wasn't, it started.

4

If possible I used to book flights around my cycle. It was that bad.

3

I haven't started the travel, so the stress is still hiiiigh. Leaving in under 48hr, won't even pack until we're a few hours from leaving. Thankfully the flight isn't pretty short!

Iโ€™m so annoyed that I picked up the gardening, budgeting and cooking skills and was about to add foragingโ€ฆ but I got the chronic fatigue/disability and broken stomach debuffs. Severely limiting the personal advantages.

They all combine so well. If I hadnโ€™t been stopped I would have been too strong

9

you are here, you are alive, you are smart and brave and strong

I don't think much of anything could keep you down, just focus on one thing and one thing only

I have crohns and most of my hobbies are "outdoorsy" stuff. When I'm flaring I just wish I fkn loved video games and such!

Holy crap. Oil in the wok was a bit too hot/water content in food a bit to high and oil splattered onto the gas burner - whoosh. got it stopped but not before it made a mess of the range hood. Holy crap that was close. Gonna need a new rangehood (from whom does one even buy a rangehood?). Excuse me while I go freak out in the corner for a bit

8
Rusty Ravenreply
aussie.zone

Scary. Is there any chance fire could have spread up the ducting in the rangehood? If so you might want the brigade to check the roof as a precaution - and you many need to get a report for an insurance claim too.

2

I believe its ok but thanks. I stuck my head in the roof cavity and all ok and I got it turned off nearly immediately. A bit of the plastic is melted and the fine mesh.

You can buy them AND get them installed by Appliances Online. Who I recommend. Maybe not the cheapest, but def the most hassle free.

1

awesome. I loke appliances online. I just tried it and the fan is still working which is amazing! Gonna get an electrician mate to have a close look though.

I've been the assistant to the flu vax-er at work the past few weeks, and let me tell you I've gotta hold onto the tub of chuppa chups tight or they're all gone in a blink. In all honesty, I'm glad we're allowed to do lollipop rewards again, the stickers weren't cutting it.

I think it's really important that YarraByte creates this thread.

I see Lemmy 1.0 (currently in Alpha) has post scheduling by default, which I'm sure will solve this almost completely. In the meantime, have mods/admin exhausted all other options to keep YB stable? Could we chip in for a good quality webcron service? They're pretty cheap.

7
Pilkreply
aussie.zone

So Lemmy fell over instead? I'm sorry for besmirching YarraByte's name.

5

Yeah. It's like the bus never came so YB is still wandering around out there......somewhere...lost.

3

Yeah Aussie zone was briefly inaccessible. I figured it was maintenance downtime but maybe not

Should we look into building a lighthouse? The programming req for a bot ended up beyond me, but a pile of rocks with a torch on top seems achievable.

3

Yeah, if https://aussie.zone/ isn't reachable at 00:00 then there is no automatic posting, the alternative is it keeps trying which risks the creation of multiple threads.

More often that's the fault of Opticomm as I already have a local server rack, but sometimes it's the lemmy instance itself.

that first kind of cough medicine gave me weird arse dreams. In one I was being chased by a mean Ricky Gervais. I like Ricky and was so confused. Another I met a childhood friend.

3

Almost stepped on a tiny skink. Managed to hover my foot mid step as it ran away. So glad I didnโ€™t kill it! I would have been so sad.

5

Okay so I may have stayed up a bit too late watching Mentour Pilot on yt. This is satiating my aircraft investigations craving.

I have never felt safer on a plane now, honestly.

4

Hmmโ€ฆ Carpet shampooer canโ€™t exactly clean the cat tree and I donโ€™t want to throw it out. I found a multi steamer that does carpet on Amazon for $150. It could be useful for this plus the next plague this cursed realm sends me. (Thereโ€™s been quite a few.)

Iโ€™m wondering if I should sell some of my existing stuff to declutter a bit and recoup some money. The budget isโ€ฆ looking very sad. But that means dealing with the public. And I would have to fix some stuff (particularly the low solar panel output which could be due to the crappy connections) which I donโ€™t have the energy to do.

Decisions can wait until Iโ€™m feeling less stressed

4

can I just say your food becoming like poison is not a good way to lose weight

I would stand in my pantry surrounded by food and nearly everything that I could eat I would have had to cook .

the fridge is a lost cause unless there is jelly or coconut ice treats

sometimes I might eat a cookie and it goes straight through me but not before making my lips and tongue hurt

I have become reaccustomed to fruit as a snack food

3

Out of curiosity what do you think the mouth burning culprit of the cookie is?

Because if itโ€™s just dairy I read you can make cookies with vegan spread/margarine, you just have to chill the dough before baking. And I think thereโ€™s some sort of MCAS diet (if any of this helps)

::: spoiler spoiler Walk a blockie for mental health and bone densityโ€ฆ detour to avoid crazy neighbourโ€ฆ spy a familiar voidish form in the alley. Should not have walked there. Sure enough when I get home and shut the door he saunters past and hangs out a bit.

Edit: ok, the camera shows him coming around a few times a day even if I donโ€™t come out or make noise.

Tough love is hard. Iโ€™ve stopped feeding or interacting with the cat and try to avoid him now I know he has owners. Trying to encourage him to stay at home and get cared for by his people.

But I am keeping an eye on his condition. ๐Ÿซฉ

I feel like a monster for suddenly cutting him off. But he was refusing the medication and I was having stress dreams about him living in my house still contagious, multiplying into 2, 4, 8 infected black cats (like ringworm rings spread out). And in the dream my own girl was still alive needing to be protected from the infection.

I wish these arseholes would just treat their cat and give him some attention.

At least Iโ€™m no longer seeing him out in the middle of the night. Maybe my warning about the curfew stuck. :::

Most emergencies get sent more cars than you might expect, so it's likely not as serious or newsworthy as all the action seems to indicate.

Here's the pager callout for 10.30 this morning:

@@ALERT 03407 IN 1A VEHICLE INTO STRUCTURE - TRAPPED CNR CHESTERVILLE RD/SOUTH RD MOORABBIN M 77 K5 (296994) AFPRS MCHA PODHR PT29 T10A TOPSNA FGD17 [FS29_]

Taleyareply
aussie.zone

nope, that one isn't it. I live near that corner, they were coming out of it and heading up towards the opposite end of chesty - southland end.

2

It probably was the same job, they got an updated address after the inital page, it was actually further south. Turned out to not be anything dramatic, just a standard run of the mill accident which got a big initial response due to the initial description.

3
Rusty Ravenreply
aussie.zone

Nothing I can see out that way now. Probably a report of a car accident, that always gets lots of trucks hurtling and most of the time turns out to not be as bad as initial reports indicated and they all turn around and go home again.

3

yeah we're kinda a thoroughfare for emergency vehicles, but this was a BIG lot. Like last time I saw that many was the battery fire. Usually we get a couple going through, but this was like GONDOR CALLS FOR AID
