Original Post
Do you know of any games in which you play as an animal? EDIT: preferably in nature, though Stray is still a really great recommendation!
I'm really looking forward to Migration.
I played one that had really good graphics, and you played as an ape, but it was so bad gameplay-wise that I gave up on it.
I also loved playing ant colony management games though I pretty much forgot their names.
Spore kind of fits the theme as well.
Dinosaur games included. Idk if I would count Jurrasic Park and Jurassic World but those kinds are welcome too.----___
Man, compiling the list at the top… I love that. Thank you so much!
The least I can do, it's for myself too
Stray.
That's a car game /s
Great recommendation! I almost forgot about it! I thought by the graphics it will require a really beefy GPU but nope, the requirement is really tiny! Thanks :3
Untitled goose game. Bear simulator. Goat simulator.
If you like management type games, planet craftor, satisfactory, and factorio.
All great choices.
May I add: Bee Simulator - wholesome, cute, and simple, but educational!
Squirrel with a Gun: exactly as chaotic as it sounds. Goat Simulator vibes.
Just Crow Things: Cartoony, small puzzles but delightful nonetheless.
I’m sure there’s others in my various game libraries but that’s just off top of my head.
Played them all lol
Untitled Goose Game was fucking hilarious, I loved it
Planet Crafter is pretty good too.
WolfQuest is the obvious touchstone here I think.

Very realistic apparently in many ways.
Niche is based in a fictional ecosystem but is a great simulator game where you try to build a pack of animals and deal with evolution and survival.

The Isle looks decent

I also HIGHLY recommend the Board Game Oceans...

..and other games in the series that started with Evolution.

Digital versions are available for both and both are very deep.
Thanks!
Some that I haven’t seen mentioned yet:
Thanks! Those are a lot of good ones it seems
Endling is a great game, sad... but still a good game.
Necromonicat you play as HP Lovecraft's sadly named cat, who vows revenge on his master.
Catlateral Damage you play as a cat, well destroying things.
There was a game I had on Wii that you played as a meerkat colony, called Lead the Meerkats.
Thanks!
Bad mojo was a hit if you like old games. You play a cockroach...
now I've played some shit in my life but damn, haha
Timberborn fits the bill
Colony management game, OP. You do not have first-person perspective, but the same perspective you get in most ![email protected]. You build up a society of beavers only. I recommend it. It is set in nature in a post-apocalyptic type setting where beavers are the only sapient beings, but it comes off way more environmental hazard to work past and you can restore nature, and way less depressing and hopeless than "post-apocalypse" implies. Speaking as someone who typically writes off anything post-apocalyptic as not for me.
Yea it looks really good actually, despite not FPP
@[email protected] also nice username lmao
I haven't played it yet, but maybe Animalkind would be to your liking: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2997840/Animalkind/
LOL
I am a sucker for these kinds of games too. Might edit in more answers at some point.
Thanks! Those are pretty good
Closest ones I could think of, but still misses:
Thanks!
SimAnt.
Never expected a DOS game
Everything seems more like a gamified Alan Watts lecture than a proper game, from what I've played, but you might count that.
Thanks!
Added stuff I forgot. Somehow a lot turned out to be rat/mouse games.
Rat/mouse games
Credit to https://lemmy.zip/post/63440777 for the two mouse ones, and credit to a commenter [email protected] on https://lemmy.zip/post/37620082 for some rat ones
Non-rat/mouse
Timberborners or something like that…
Thanks!
Eastshade?

You don't really play as an animal but it looks really relaxing :-)
https://www.gog.com/en/game/webbed ?
Oh yea this one I get behind 100% I loved playing it
the costuming in champions online is such that if you unlock the proper pieces you could have a hero who looked like some animls. Its a superhero game though so the gameplay would not be anything animal related you would just have to rp you were a sentient animal acting as a hero.
thanks!
Well I started playing Wolf Quest, ate a rabbit, and my orange hunger bar did not move one bit 10/10 I have no idea what I'm doing lol
you have been banned from ![email protected]
