I have not been able to get this out of my head since I first heard it...

...that was months ago.

This one is really unique. I hadn't seen this one before, thanks for sharing.

Edit: Nevermind!

As much as I love this song (and MIMI in general), it did come out in 2026, though it was January 2nd.

Thanks, missed that bit. I think I am going to keep it to just 2025 for anime because of the seasonal structure of the shows, but it makes sense to be more flexible in this case.

Meta question:

I am planning on making a similar post for the ![email protected] community sometime this week. I wasn't sure what kind of criteria I might want to include about the "international hit" rule. I was thinking about limiting nominations to songs with less than a set number of youtube views or something like that...but wasn't really sure how to apply that. Wasn't sure if you had any thoughts.

I guess that would be good. I assumed that Vocaloid is niche enough to not have any „international hits“, but songs like „Miku“ by anamanaguchi are probably still too mainstream.

I think something like 1m views on YouTube should be a good limit to exclude the mainstream while still allowing artists that are popular within the community.

Edit edit: Looks like there really isn't anything to worry about. I suspect that your initial hunch is right that vocaloid is niche enough to not worry about it at all. I don't plan on limiting it in any way for the anime community.

I think you're probably right about vocaloid being niche enough to not worry about it. I was thinking more like 10 million views for my case. Looking over some of my favorite anisongs from last year, that would restrict about half of them. I'm not as plugged into the vocaloid scene, but that would eliminate stuff like Static and Birdbrain, while still allowing stuff like Flop Era or Magic Maid.

edit: I just asked for clarification in the lemmyvision thread.

Are songs in which the vocaloid is not the sole singer allowed? (i.e. it features non-vocaloids)

Are song made for anime allowed?

Just a heads up that the lemmyvision rules say that it has to have been released in 2025.
