weird background colour/highlighting on (some) comments
Why are my comments doing this? I haven't found anything in the settings that can change it or explain it and it just started happening a couple weeks ago. It also doesn't happen to all comments, some posts it won't happen at all, others will be entirely highlighted, and some will be mixed, with no apparent reason for which ones are affected that I can see. It happens even after changing the theme colors and the color doesn't match any of the colors I have set in the settings. It's not a huge deal but I'd really rather have just a black background for all comments.
Nvm I think I found the setting in comment customization - "highlight new comments". Not sure how it was determining what 'new' comments were though as it says it affects unread comments but it would continue to happen on posts I had read before, and sometimes wouldn't affect posts I had never seen. Or be mixed even on posts I had never seen. Anyway I'm not sure whether to delete this or leave it up for posterity, I guess the mods can decide.
Once you view a post, any comments should be marked as read so the next time you visit the post, only comments between then and now should be highlighted. Sometimes there may be a caching issue and if you find the highlighting is off, try refreshing the post. Usually the feature works fine for me and I find it useful so I have it on.
For comments, you can delete right from the context(three dots) menu but for posts, you have to edit the post and the option to delete will be in the top right. You can delete or leave it up, up to you.
