What kinds of public buildings have solariums?

On my day off, I want to go to a building with a glass enclosed room that lets in sunlight and is warm.

Is that called a solarium?

I can't find anywhere on Google maps. How can I find such a place?

I think you're looking for a conservatory or sunroom. Maybe check for a nearby botanical garden?

A lot of conservatories/arboretums have these types of spaces in addition to the hotter more humid greenhouse areas.

The one at biltmore or some other old timey robber baron house was called a 'winter garden'

Seconding "winter garden". There's three I know of in Chicago that are open to the public:

  • Harold Washington Library eighth floor

  • the lobby bar of the Hoxton hotel

  • the lobby of the U of C business school Hyde Park campus main building

Thank you all! I continue my search for conservatories, greenhouses, sun rooms, winter gardens, and also robber baron houses.
