Alcoholism is a fucked way to go.
Well, the beers start comin' and they don't stop comin'.
Damn, I guess the years stopped coming.
The world rolled him.
That video of him passing out in the middle of all star in front of three dozen people was rough.
Smash Mouth gets made fun of a lot but I've always had respect for the incessant positivity in their music
I'm not even sure why they get clowned. I guess because they sorta sold out doing covers for movies and after that their albums fell off a cliff. More recently obviously because the singer was very publicly self destructing.
But like...Fush Yu Mang and Astrolounge are both seriously good albums.
I guess you can't deny liver failure as easily as you can deny COVID. Hey now.
What a rough way to go. I remember seeing a video years ago where he didn't look very healthy. Poor guy.
Dude hasn't been well for a while. He hates All Star so much that he has to get very drunk in order to perform it at all. I believe he kept getting into drunk verbal fights with the crowd until the band ultimately stopped touring.
I've seen a video or two of that. I had also heard that people would attend his concerts to see him go off the rails. It's so unfortunate he hated the song that brought him so much success. I know a lot of people think its been overplayed, but It's just a fun, catchy, light-hearted song.
That show in New York kinda reminded me of blades of glory when Will Ferrell is just getting plastered in his suit, ice skating in costume. Except the smash mouth version. Kinda not surprised.

RIP
So he got got by one of the few diseases you can just choose to not get.
It takes willful ignorance in the beginning to get addicted. I've your home, then you can no longer help it. But no one forced anyone to just start drinking too much too often.
This might be the dumbest comment I've read in a long time
Not sure if this is your intent but your comment might be coming off the same as, "Why don't you just stop being sad?" To people suffering from depression. Mental disorders and addictions are legitimate diseases and can be extremely complex to diagnose and treat. It's really unfortunate that Steve Harwell died under those circumstances. His music brought joy to a lot of people.
Addiction doesn't start right away. You have to keep choosing to consume while seeing it's a bad idea. You become dependant later.
Depression is not just being chronically sad, and you don't choose to be sad in the first place even if it was.
Your idea of addiction goes against the most rudimentary science about addiction.
