Soooo last week I bought this new fender mustang 90... I'm very impressed, it's the best guitar I've ever played comfort wise. I just wish I bought it 20 years ago :)

This has been on my wishlist for quite some time now. How are the P90s?
They're powerful, I get a nice powerful grungy sound out of them (I'm into the sound of dinosaur Jr, that's why I ended up looking into this model), and they are surprisingly not noisy - but I've played it at low volumes or with headphones

I've been deciding between a Les Paul with P90s, this one, and the Squier Strat-o-Sonic. Then I think I've got plenty of guitars and should just drop one of the humbucker sized P90s in one of the fat strats. Then I give up.

dropping the p90 in a strat might be an intriguing idea tho
Absolutely. That's why I like the idea behind the Strat-o-Sonic so much. I've got an extra fat strat running around and for about $80 I could at least give it a shot for a while.

It's not difficult if you can solder. I've replaced several pickups over the years. But I've got a hundred other projects. So it never made it to the top.
I have a cheap Ibanez GAX30 where I'd like to try different pickups, maybe I'll get some soldering practice then I try
Oh, highly recommended! I didn't realize you were asking for yourself. If I'm looking at it right you're probably looking at a couple of hours work for your first time (that includes time rewatching a video of someone else doing it to make sure you've got it right). Someone that's done it a few times could probably knock it out in under half an hour if they don't want to change the strings. I'm pretty careful with my work so the last time I did a swap it probably took me 45 minutes from grabbing my tool bag to tightening the strings back up.

I have been eyeing that model or the Meteora for a while, I didn't realize you could get the Fender version with p90s though. I thought they were only available as Squires.
Yea they (fender) had a Mustang Player 90 (with P90s) but it's been discontinued in 2024, now they have a more expensive model called Player II
I got interested in this model recently and found one last new guitar in an Italian online store, and bought it :)
This is my definitive guitar for sure!
