Agreed I practically switched from Ubuntu to Fedora only because of Snap, especially because the subtle attempt at installing snaps when you intended to install .Deb packages via apt-get

I don't understand how they're still doing it. This is literally the reason I see most often for people turning away from Ubuntu.

They must really expect to be able to thoroughly enshittify Snaps, otherwise it can't be worth it for them.

I've been a hard-core Ubuntu fan for a long time but it's starting to change. 

Might just install stock Debian because I'm used to the way it works and the apt and deb package system. 

Was also debating between OpenSUSE and Fedora. But apparently OpenSUSE is making significant changes that might not make it as good.

Just remove snap and all files and folders it ever made. I tried it out once about a year ago and found yet another errant folder it left behind in root yesterday. Snap sucks.
