The way federation works everything in Lemmy has to be public, it's just up to the instance/app if they want to make it easily visible or try to hide it a bit.

Its a possibility on Lemmy

The lemmy UI hides it, just like the Boost UI. What people do is they go to lemvotes.org and paste the url to the comment or post to see the up- and downvotes.

What lemmy has, that I'm uncertain if Boost has too, is a convenient way to copy the "true link" from the poster or commenters instance.
On Lemmy you copy the multi coloured star link and paste into lemvotes.org

I know, it's publically available info, but not in the default UI, which is too bad. Honestly, I think if it's available, it should also be shown.

And that illustrates why it should not be made so prominent. I've twice had people accuse me of stalking them and downvoting everything they post, because they obsessed about the votes on their posts. Neither case was true. But I still got some minor harassment from each perceived slight.

Damn. I just switched to Boost, from Jerboa; and was wondering why I can't find an option to see upvotes vs downvotes. (they're displayed separately in Jerboa)

I'm not looking to pinpoint who voted how, I just prefer to see those two numbers individually. With a calculated score, you can't tell if a '1' means nobody has much of an opinion or if 5k people are split 50/50.
