Newsom says California homelessness is declining. Here’s what the data shows

Hopefully the decrease in unhoused population continues to decrease due to actual changes implemented, rather than due miscounting.

I did the math based on the numbers presented:
The article states an estimated 24 Billiion dollars spent on unhoused people since Newsome's entry into office (2019, 6 years), with an estimated 84,000 unhoused. That means we've spent about 47,619 dollars per unhoused person, per year in that time.
