That's exactly it really. Many guys (at least pre social media) never think about the other perspective, so they think they complimenting the women, so they get mad when they get treated badly. Young guys having a more easily accessible view into how women feel about it and what they think about in terms of the danger (hopefully) would help it phase out slowly, but I'm an optimist!
