Tom's Hardware now hijacks the back button.
Long considered malicious website behavior (and defined as abusive by Google), back button hijack is starting to rear its ugly head again. The lower panel in the image is what tomshardware.com displays when the back button is selected. The enshittification continues.

Replicated in Safari on iOS.
I can’t replicate on iOS, but it could be my pihole that’s blocking it.

Some poor web developer was told to implement this against their will. Hopefully they raised the concern. Report the site as abusive until their registrar takes them down. Should make for a fun week for that POS project manager.
Can't reproduce on Firefox on Android
Never had it happen on Android, only on PC.
I've had it happen on Firefox on Android, but I've only visited them through the google promoted links from swiping left on homescreen, whatever that's called.
Super annoying shit, happens all the time in firefox on Android with ublock origin, also happens on other sites that I think are from the same network.
My solution is to stay away from them, that's what they get for forcing this shit.
I went to a website on desktop (android central dot com) that popped something like that up when I moved my mouse out of the content in the window. So annoying.
Strange, it doesn't do that for me with Firefox on Linux. Not even when I turn off my adblocker.
Doesn't do that for me in Chrome or Firefox on Windows either.
Yeah, can't reproduce on Firefox either. Even when in private window where all add-ons are disabled and I disabled Pi-hole too.
Any plugin or config that can prevent this?
Use RSS to fetch the feeds instead
Block everything.
