I learned about this a few years ago and was genuinely devastated. The Belgariad and The Maloreon were childhood favourites. My copies went in the fire after that.

It should be noted you don't need to go burn your Eddings books: Leigh died in 2007, David in 2009 and all proceeds from their estate now go to Reed College in Portland, Oregon.

The only way that grip makes sense to me is that the men were fighting, and the creature has just caught him by surprise after he beat the other guy.

One of my favorite childhood series! I still go back to reread it 25 years later.

Great art, though is it me or the knight looks like Dubya? It has the same hundred-yard stare.

What’s the point of all that armour if his head is just totally exposed? May as well ditch it for full mobility, and then at least he could lift the spear into a decent thrusting stance.
