Rights are actually privileges given by a society. They aren't a right if they can be taken away. (-Carlin)

It's clean air and water, not just air/water. Unless you're in space or on the Moon.

Is that statement not true everywhere? I would assume, given that humans are not all good in general, that in all places there will be pieces of shit that will not take care of and abuse animals/pets

Let’s be fair, some people shouldn’t be entrusted with puppy ownership. I am one of them (because I can barely look after myself, not animal abuse).

Or children. Or anything where another sentient being is dependent in some way. Maybe not even some house plants.

I'm going to guess that historically prolific colonisers voted no.

Damn, I missed that second (or rather third, after Alaska) red area. That image's resolution is too small.

Not my top guesses, but not surprised either. I guessed the UK and Russia would've been opposed too.

Russia sponsored it, despite being huge and present colonisers, but the text of the motion was pretty lacking.

France, China and the US are the other big two these days (excluding the more minor offenders and the ones that are more imperialist or genocidal than colonialist like Israel, Armenia and Azerbaijan), the US voting against is unsurprising, China like to reframe their colonialism as "Not Colonialism™" and France probably didn't want to get the bad rep of voting against it.
