Yeah, but now spez allows a full invasion -- and AI moderation dropping banhammers on "violent" users -- so that he would then sell off the data to anyone willing to pay him millions.

Can confirm.

One of my more ridiculous bans from reddit was "advocating violence" by joking about mosquitoes getting cancer.

Said I would slap someone for jump-scaring me on a video of a jump scare prank where someone was slapped. Permabanned. Even tried to appeal.

I got banned from a forum because someone was being racist and I called them out on it. HE IS STILL THERE.

2

I have used Reddit for nearly 15 years, and never once received a ban/suspension, until this past year when I've received 3, all triggered by AI moderation.

Not that I'm distraught over them, but it is annoying because I use Reddit specifically for niche sports communities that just don't exist on Lemmy.

And even those communities are full of bots, so I can only imagine what the mainstream subreddits look like now.

Yes and no. I'm sure most of the bans from the past year are automated.

Capitalism also made reddit in the first place though. Greed isn't exclusive to capitalism either.

No, capitalism didnt create reddit. People inspired by DIGG created reddit while living in a capitalist economy.

They're all just forums with voting, but the salient point was that they were created to make money for the people who started the company.

If their sole motivation was making money they had plenty of way more reliable options for applying their skills than gambling on Digg shitting itself and everyone jumping onto their lifeboat. Capitalism didn’t create Reddit, people laboring under capitalism did.

7

Best sort made reddit unusable for me. Opaque systems for no reason other than revenue makes me irrationally angry.

If /r/CFB didn't exist I would never have a need to go there

Of my several hundred open Firefox tabs, /r/FreeGameFindings/new is the only Reddit tab remaining.

What's a game on your list that you have been wanting (maybe a few years old, not new)?

2

I'd have to say... Space Haven? It looks kind of like the lovechild of Dungeon Keeper and RimWorld I've been hoping someone would make, and it has received excellent reviews throughout its lifetime.

You reached the end
