My neighbor is from Abkhasia. I'd never even heard about it. It's just one of the many stories of partial genocide through displacement around the Soviet Union. The fallout of which we're still dealing with in many former Soviet/Eastern bloc states. Russia's false claims of ownership, whipping up the Russian speaking part of the population etc.

To be clear, as a Brit, Brexit did more to show the advantages of Europe than the remain campaign, and the previous decade of media coverage combined. Unfortunately, it did so by taking away all those good things. I still can't point to any changes that actually improved things.

Hopefully we can get back into the club in the future. However, we need to do some major housecleaning first.

The EU is something you have to apply to join. You don't have to be in the EU. Any dissenters can enjoy their sovereignty amd increased trade prices.
