It's because we don't feel better, we feel tired. It's an exhausting process, and we don't get to feel reward chemicals from abstract tasks like that

I don’t feel better. There’s not really a mental reward for doing the work, it just feels like a never ending list of maintenance to keep my life from getting worse.
