I think its whole thing is that it doesn't really mean anything; it's literally just an empty trigger word

I asked my nine year old daughter, and she said it doesn't mean anything, it's just brain rot to confuse the adults.

It originates from a discussion about a guy's height, he was 6 foot 7 inches. However, that's not really important to how it's used, it's just a mindless phrase to say.

It originates from "Doot Doot" by Skrilla [Dec '24], got associated with LaMelo Ball (basketball player), hijacked and force-memed by Taylen Kinney (basketball player, hand gesture starts here) [Jan '25], kids chasing highlight reel clout start doing this at games and Maverick Trevillian (the blonde kid in the memes) gets lucky [March '25]. Full-steam-ahead brainrot evolution from there, memes referencing memes with none of the original layers of context.

It isn't no meaning tho...

And if kids laugh at it and it's just being silly who cares? What are you the funny police?

It's a meme of a rap song of a someone saying that a guy plays like he's 6'7" even though he is 6'2".

It caught on because the rap song does the motion with the hands and the kids just find it funny.

Google is a thing. It's not like some hidden secret. I knew about it months ago because I coach youth baseball and looked it up to make sure my kids weren't saying something bad.

I'm gonna start spreading this around. It's much better than the existing definition.

Gotta love 67. It’s so ubiquitous it’s become meaningless. From basketball to 67 kid, it’s pretty much whatever anyone wants it to be.

5

No, it just doesn't really appeal to me and many others which is why I would argue that something that is funny because it shouldn't be can easily be better than something that is funny because it's a sex thing. In this comparison I think I dislike both equally though.

I don't get what the annoyance is with "6-7". I've been using it for years and it just means "approximately" or "thereabouts".

4

The way my kids use it, it doesn't mean anything. They just say it randomly in a drawn out voice.

That doesn't sound like you're using it to mean "thereabouts" given that you have the word "thereabouts" in the sentence...

I noticed, but I thought they were at least still trying to answer the question...

This is funny, but don't you mean to say: "I'll be there 6-7 6-7 6-7". Makes more sense that way

I cannot. You can only realise it's been used after it has already happened. I can try to think of a sentence all day but I will not come up with one because it can only come naturally.

Wait until we have six or seven votes on these comments and maybe then we can see
