SIgn up without email
Is signing up with email forced by devs? I would like to sign up for piedfed but I don't like to include my email for, well, anything psuedo-anonymouse like social networking. I haven't been able to find any instances that don't require email (my preferred is piefed.ca)
It's not forced by devs, it is a setting that admins can turn on or off.
There is the possibility to just host yourself like I do.
Why not just get an alternate email account that you only use for pseudo-anonymous sites like this?
Because most email providers ask for a LOT of personal information nowadays, especially if you use a VPN
Don't lemmy.ca and Piefed.ca align on that requirement? @[email protected] ?
They do these days. Their lemmy.ca account might predate that.

Yeah makes sense, we waffled on that requirement originally.
We don't restrict use of anonymous email things, but we require email to reduce the spammers
