I always took it as just taking boomer and starting with z. ironically xoomer could sorta be pronounced the same the way we use x. millenioomer is to cumbersome.

Well, I haven't been a big fan of this millennium, but here I am.

I had to use it in lockdown and I dislike using it on my phone. If I remember, it was clunky to use and also kick people out the video-call if reached around 30-60mins if they're on a Free-tier.

I hate Zoom with a firey passion and I'm glad you didn't had to witness it

Hopefully. I was once asked to use it once and refused. And they never asked again 🙃

I think the term Zoomer was given because of the fact that people used Zoom for virtual learning (of which I hated school in general).

They were called that before covid, I think it’s just gen z+boomer

I very clearly remember it from before then. I was like “zoomer, that’s a stupid name” prior to the pandemic.

It’s actually why I’m here, because it had never once occurred to me that it could relate to Zoom, because “zoomer” predates Zoom being used by gen z

Yeah, although I think, it only got as popular, because it sounds like "boomer".

How/why do you hate a piece of software you've never used? How do you form a reasoned opinion on it without trying it?

This thing is a proprietary software, contains trackers, surely has something to do with ai etc etc

5

Then it's not so much that you hate Zoom, but that you're consciously trying to avoid proprietary software. That's a good stance, and a good principle, but it's not hate for a specific piece of software specifically.

I realize you were just making a quip, but it struck me as so incongruous that I had to ask.

You reached the end
