oof, this has happened to me before (accused of cheating when I wasn't, then later learned they were cheating on me), though I was never in an open or poly relationship
In human relations, as in politics, every accusation is a confession.
"Best friend" in high school was teasing me about my (very serious) boyfriend.
Was sleeping with said boyfriend behind my back.
Professed not to know that I had a thing for him, despite, you know, specifically teasing me about having a thing for him.

Jeez that really is terrible. What a horrible mindset to have I actually feel sorry for him that he's that lacking in contentment and peace deep down that he'd be doing things like that. And of course, double that sympathy for you for having to live through that. Hope freedom feels incredible for you now ✨
I used to have a boyfiend of like 4 or 5 years that didn't tell his family about me. So i never met them oder visited his home place. For me that was kind of a big deal back then.
