I gotta say, I never got the Jersey Mike's hype. Their stuff wasn't all that good even before they were bought out.

Some areas of the country only have exposure to sub-par sammies. That's it. I've been slugging down quality hoagies since a young age and found Jersey Mike's to be so underwhelming, and - even without considering how overpriced it is - I only tried it once.

Must be people who don't know what a sub should be

Mike's bread sucks, to start with. Then whatever they put in it has no flavor.

I mean, you could order any combination of what they have. I used to get the 56 with the chipotle mayo from the 43. A 99 (since they numbered everything that's what we would do).

It was down the street from work so we'd hit it once every week or two. It wasn't bad. I have no idea what it is now and all my opinions are based on what I remember from years and years ago.

Around here Jersey Mike's is the bomb. They are the best sub shop by far.

Big agree, they're delicious. Definitely one of the best chain sub shops.

"tasteless garbage" is unhinged or just rage bait.

No, Mike's is tasteless garbage.

I don't understand how they're successful.

Capriottis is now nationwide, I suspect that's what motivated Mike's to try the same thing.

If there's one within a reasonable drive, go. You'll see what a sub should be.

Hell, Quizno's is 10x better than Mike's.

Quiznos still exists?

Also, I may be wrong, but I think Jersey Mike's went national before Capriotti's?

2

There are no words to describe how much I long for a Quiznos prime rib on garlic bread with au jus.

They're alright but there's a lot more options I'd rather choose, most of them being local banh mi places.
