Fun story. I did this with my kids until one day my son was at preschool and one of his classmates hurt her leg. My son proceeds to say, “My dad is gonna come cut your leg off with a knife” to her a made her cry. We got a talking to from the school staff and had to explain that one.

My roommate had his kids stay for a few weeks. The one was 6 and accidentally fell and skinned his knee. I told him we would have to amputate but continued to run into problems... After about 20 minutes when I was trying to cut his leg off with a laddle usually used for pasta he finally figured out I wasn't not really trying (for example all my kitchen knives were only sharp on the wrong side). His father came home and the kid complained that I "tried to amputate my leg"... My roommate just responded "well he did a good enough job reattaching it". He was so concerned with getting his leg amputated he completely forgot that he skinned his knee.

Yes he was fine. No real harm and within the twenty minutes he was laughing and telling me I was silly for trying to cut his leg with a laddle.

If you subscribe to the right communities and use the right sort you can recreate that ahah. I did so unintentionally.
