Unlocked bootloader or Linux capable?
Its a Motorola so should be. Unless, they want to give away their advantage.
Should be able to unlock it if you get it retail. Mainline Linux I very much doubt it.
Motorola phones also have great gesture controls! Karate chop to turn on the flashlight, and do a Snowpiercer style twist to open the camera. Twist it a second time to open the selfie camera. I think they patented these features though, which is pretty yuck.
The patents expired iirc. The doubple-chop flashlight should be on every phone. It's just so handy.
Whenever I do that around non-motorola people they get sooooo envious, lol. It is a great feature, and I agree it should be universal.
I preferred when I was running custom ROMs and could just hold the power button for a second.
Still living that dream with LineageOS. Such a same it's not on official ROMs
If Motorola-Lenovo weren't a bully with their update policy I would even consider it, maybe later if Calyx/Graphene support pops up
Calyx does support some of their devices. I used to run CalyxOS on my Moto g84 until they paused releases.
What security features do they lack that graphene OS requires?
Nothing
The Graphene devs are mostly full of smoke
A separate security/system integrity chip? Something like that
How many years of updates???
According to https://en-gb.support.motorola.com/app/software-security-update/#gs=eyJndWlkZUlEIjo3MTEyLCJxdWVzdGlvbklEIjoxLCJyZXNwb25zZUlEIjo0LCJndWlkZVNlc3Npb24iOiIqVzktTEJpciIsInNlc3Npb25JRCI6IkxMZVlMQmlyIn0. the G55 and G56 get 4 years of updates (at least in Europe), randomly checked others are between 2 and 6 years.
2 years is pretty rough by modern standard.
Do not buy a Motorola if you care about updates. The site writes that software updates policy can change at anytime and they do not promise anything. Get a samsung, pixel, oneplus if you want updates.
Unless you are in Europe
EU’s new rules will shake up Android update policies
For all phone released after June 20:
Well, this is what I see on the german Motorola website. Text translated by firefox translation.

1 if you are lucky.
My Moto G84 released in September 2023 and is supported until September 2026. I got another update this month

I think you mean it was released in September 2023?
Indeed, thank you, I just edited the comment
LOL, the selling point...
Richard, have you completed the 300gigapixel forward facing camera with 3D motion detection?
The headphone jack scientist team is almost done with their upgraded jack! Hurry up dude!
Note: these don't work in the US
In the US there are the Stylus 2025/2024 which have a jack too
Audio jack, yeaaa!!!!!! While I loved the gestures on my Motorola edge 2021, the fucking weather notification about rain and storms, was irritating. Also I couldn't turn off the always on display.
If I had to buy a phone now, this one would be my first option, and mainly for the audio jack.
Hi blaze!
Hi Rose!
I have the moto g stylus 2024, and can confirm, it's a great phone.
How's the camera compare to the Pixels?
I just bought my oneplus (which I love) but I wish I didnt need to charge headphones anymore.
