Somewhere out there, at my old job, there's a cardboard box with a few puffy laptop batteries in it. I have no idea where it went 🙃

This is why i prefer rechargeable AAA cells. Just take them out. But built-in akku? Either store it fully charged and risk a fire. Or discharge it and you need to take the device appart, before you can use it again, because akku dead.

There really should be a flat akku cell standard though.

I recently found my now-recalled Anker battery pack in a box... in my sweltering attic. I'm lucky it didn't burst into flames and burn my house down. It isn't visibly swollen, but it claims to have a 100% charge which I don't think is possible (it's been up there for at least 4 years).

For further context, in the summer, my attic can get up to around 130°F.

Where else would it be.

Also i have 2 similar samsung phones that did this at normal room temp, not plugged in.
