"The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church"

The fuck does that even mean? They get off on the blood of martyrs?

97

Jesus said there is no greater act of love than to lay down your life for someone else. Protestants use martyrdom to subvert that to mean that dying for your faith is the greatest act of love towards god.

Something something gun to your head and you're dead if you don't renounce Christ. IYKYK.

28

Absolutely. The modern evangelical church is full of people who are incredibly excited about Kirk's grisly death.

He's shaping up to be the First Protestant Saint (outside, maybe, Joseph Smith).

Charlie Kirk = Jesus (minus the racism and homophobia and disregard for the poor of course, but basically the same thing).

11

Any church advocating violence in a positive light, even martyrdom, always makes me suspicious about how much of the Bible they actively ignore/follow. Also, this draws a direct line from violence to benefiting the church, not god, his kingdom, the world, or even your fellow man. Just go die to support a building and its non-profit corp.

Boycott True Metal Supply, seems like a viable next step.

They have 49 Google reviews and all 5 stars. Most feel like fake reviews too.

It would be a shame if people of the internet were to review them based solely on this billboard...

Oops! Looks like it's starting

Would be a shame if multiple people set a calendar event every two months to create a new Google account and post a distinct negative review to give more legitimacy.

Actually it's kind of evil to do something like that.

8

Do you own a house that needs roofing? I don't think we're their target demographic. Boycotts don't change behavior if you weren't buying it in the first place.

if you want an example of liberal city surrounded by very conservative rural area, the divide doesn't get much clear than Asheville, as we see the clash gets interesting

So instead of paying to advertise their products on the billboard, they pay for this.
Holy CEO brainworms...

I’ve never understood why a company would put itself in this position. What’s the upside? Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, you know Charlie Kirk is a deeply divisive figure who could easily be described as a Christian nationalist who regularly made racist and inflammatory remarks. So what exactly do you hope to achieve by paying for a billboard like this and attaching your company’s name to it? At best, you alienate half your customer base for the approval of a small, loud minority. It’s like the “pillow guy” all over again, a perfect example of self-inflicted damage.

At least they make it easy to avoid them I guess.

These idiots buy the lies they're fed. They think anyone who is left of themselves are people who don't work and that all the "hardworking good people" are "good Christian" good old boys like them. So to him, he is advertising.

"That one metal company honored real American hero Kirk, so I'll buy from him."

They also think they can just say no to any business that would be offended because they'd be so few of them.

Proud of my city! Post this in the AVL sub? We need content 😂

Edit: Where is this billboard? I haven't seen it. Need a selfie. Also, "see" you at No Kings this Saturday!

21

It's on the hill on the left side of Patton Ave, before the bridge to Hillcrest. There's three other billboards next to it.

If you don't get your selfie before they take it down, there's one on Sweeten Creek Road and another on Leicester Hwy across from the car wash. You may have to bring your own spray paint.

I missed it at first, but figured it out before I responded. I was just being silly. Gainesville is the same with GNV.

4

Wait you guys have an Asheville and a nAsheville? Are they on opposite sides of the state at least?

2

Oops, sorry. I didn't even think about it. It's how Asheville is most commonly written out in text messages, etc. We've also got WVL for Weaverville, not to be confused with WAVL which is West Asheville 😂

2

No thats the other right wing podcaster that broadcasts the assfucking.

Well Asheville is an island of blue in a sea of red…

But good on them.

Sad isn't it. I am from Waynesville and it makes me so sad the people of WNC have given up reason.

I want to like this post but I can't so instead I'll simply say

"HELL" YEA!

Now if only left wing Americans would actually fight back instead of just complaining on the internet.

We are. We're organizing. We are protesting. We are vocal locally. We are vocal with families. We are fighting a trillion dollar propaganda machine and 30% of the country who hate anyone not white christian cis male. You just aren't hearing those stories in mainstream media. Quit complaining on the internet yourself and pitch in if you can. Stop with the negativity based on your ignorant preconceived notions at the very least.
