@kirschner #AntennaPod for Podcasts, #Fedilab for Mastodon and Fediverse, #Transistor for my daily #Dlf radio needs, #Aegis for #2FA, the recent version of #AnkiDroid for learning via flash cards, #SimpleGalleryPro for media management. #Auxio as a simple yet nice looking audio player. #OrganicMaps as an simple alternative to the mighty #OsmAnd. #NewPipe for my video streaming needs (even though #LibreTube is a very fine alternative when it exclusively comes to #YouTube), #Quillpad for taking notes, #KeePassDX as password manager. #DAVx5 to get stuff synchronized, #FairEmail as email client. #Feeder for my RSS feed needs. And finally the still new #FDroidBasic client allowing automatic updates of installed apps.
Recently tried out #SimpleX messenger and like it quite a bit so far. @fdroid
@cryptgoat
Thank you for the great list. Did not yet try out Aegis and Auxio. And one question in case you use it: Is the #nextcloud sync for quillpad working reliable?
@fdroid
@kirschner @fdroid Sorry for getting back to you so late, haven't been trying the Nextcloud-Sync yet but will do.
@kirschner
@fdroid
Not an everyday favorite but a potential life-saver: EtchDroid for creating bootable Linux USB drives. Allowed me to fix a laptop which wasn't booting in the middle of a holiday.
@hexaquo @fdroid Thank you. That might indeed save me some time in future.
@onkelmarkus
Thank you. I agree, great list of apps!
@fdroid
@kirschner
My Expenses, NewPipe, Open Note Scanner, Catima, ConnectBot, Earmouse, FairEmail, KeePassDX, SicMu Player, Street Complete, Termux, VLC, Wikipedia and those are just my favourites
@fdroid
Ever hear of KiwiX? You can use it to browse Wikipedia articles without data. It also works with some other sites as well
@gippy
Thanks. Did not know about Open Note Scannwr, for what are you using it?
@fdroid
@kirschner
To use the smartphone's camera as a scanner, with the convenience of having pictures converted into 1bit depth (B/W with no grey scale), lightening them a lot.
@fdroid
@gippy @fdroid Thanks for clarifying.
Ciao Gabriele! Thank you for this suggestion, the only problem is that this app, I've seen, that has no longer been updated. Does it still work fine?
@toketin
Yes, I still use it ;)
@BanditRun90s
Thanks for that. Did not know about it.
@fdroid
@[email protected] @[email protected] Not just one app but the group of apps from simple mobile tools. No unnecessary permissions, easy to use, good functionality and a clean uniform UI make them really usable.

@moe @fdroid Thanks. Beside that I love orange :)
@kirschner
For offline non-tracking maps:
@organicmaps or #osmand
@fdroid
Obtainium. For all those cool apps you find on GitHub, GitLab, FDroid, Izzy, APKPure, and more. In some cases you can add your own links and it'll try to scrape them for APKs for app updates
@Jailbrick3d This is not (yet?) available in #Fdroid is it?
You can get it if you've enabled the IzzyOnDroid repo

@kirschner
#Satstat will show how well your GPS works, and all the sensors in your phone. Like, I used it to check magnetic fields when fixing some electronics
@fdroid
@notsoloud
Interesting to hear about that use of Satstat. Thanks.
@fdroid
Also, Phyphox for access to various sensor data in graph form.
Newpipe, Libretube, Vimusic, dankchat, smart autoclicker, diskusage, notification dictionary, pixeldroid, superimage, tachiyomi, twire.
@Blackdoomax Thanks for notification dictionary, did not know about that.
You're welcome :)

@fdroid
KeePassDX, NewPipe, ViMusic, Aegis, OpenKeychain, mpv, AntennaPod, TrailSense, SuperImage, Librera Reader, Jerboa, Stealth
@kirschner
#Radiodroid gives you easy access to tons of netradios worldwide.
Curious about foreign music?
Learning a new language? Tune in to local radio!
@fdroid
@kirschner
Use #transportr most days to find public transport in Denmark.
It can connect to other databases, so might work in your area?
@fdroid
@notsoloud
Yes, works here. I was already a alpha tester in the early ages of the app. @grote has done great work there!!
@fdroid
@guerda
Full agreement on both. Big thanks to the devs!
@fdroid
@guerda @kirschner @fdroid
Is it better than DB app?
@salman รffi can navigate you through all public transport and doesn't track you, so in a way, yes. It's amazing - try it! @guerda @kirschner @fdroid
@datenritter @guerda @kirschner @fdroid
Cool! I will give it a try.
@salman
#oeffi and #transportr are really great apps I have used for many years.
@datenritter @guerda @fdroid
@kirschner @fdroid Unciv. There are other apps of course, but that one is my most favorite.
@rvansleen
Have not seen that before. Looks nice (also interesting to read the FAQs there)!
@fdroid
@kirschner @fdroid for me, probably the most useful (after maps which has already been covered) is mail. I would recommend https://k9mail.app/.
I use it for work daily and it gets updated regularly.
@chewie
Love #k9mail as well!
@fdroid
@kirschner @fdroid I'll try harder then :)
#Owncloud client https://owncloud.com/
We use it to connect to our own server for storing receipts, plane tickets, company documentation etc. It's great to keep things synced between devices.
A similar thing is #syncthing, which is cross platform although I don't have a use case for it at the moment, sadly. https://syncthing.net
@kirschner @fdroid
My favorite:
-------------------
NewPipe
https://newpipe.net
All Pro versions of Simple Mobile Tools are also available free of charge on FDroid.
https://www.simplemobiletools.com/
@salman
Thank you. I love the feature list as well!!
@fdroid
Kdeconnect, infinityforlemmy.nightly
dnsfilter.android
@A10 Thanks! KDEconnect can be really powerful.
Some useful features I use, clipboard sharing. File sharing, media controls, remote input, PC shortcuts sleep, brightness Ctrl.
@kirschner @fdroid

@islamicaudiobooks @brokenix @fdroid @delta @AntennaPod Thanks for pointing out KryptEY
@brokenix @islamicaudiobooks @fdroid @delta @AntennaPod Thanks. Did not know (or forgot) about rethink.
Subway Tooter for Mastodon!
@kirschner @fdroid
Conversations (xmpp client)
@erd @fdroid Classic, big thanks to @daniel for his great work on #conversations ๐
@kirschner
#fedilab #MullBrowser #newpipe
@fdroid
@tejass
Thank you. For Mull, what is the advantage over the normal #tor browser?
@fdroid
@kirschner
Tor browser, due to heavy traffic, sometimes becomes slow & due to security reasons could not load the websites. Mull able to load such websites quickly.
@fdroid
@tejass
Thanks for clarifying.
@fdroid
@stefan
Thanks. Also tried out many sections in gcompris before .
