Metacritic is sitting at 87 for PC and PS, 79 for Xbox (due to only having 8 reviews on the platform, the two mixed reviews are bringing down the score more than on other platforms).

That statement carries a megaton of weapon-grade weight upon it.

Yeah that's a pretty huge statement. I can't wait to see if it holds true for me and other FromSoft fans.
