Google finally pushed me out of Android

I've been considering a Linux cellphone for a long time, and Google's latest shenanigans finally decided me. I have a new phone on order that I will install Ubuntu Touch onto. Hopefully it won't be too much of a functional hit compared to CalyxOS.

Fuck Google with a broomstick.

Also, in case it bore repeating: fuck Google.

Nice. I just bought a Fairphone 6 for the same reason. I'd love Ubuntu Touch, but I need dual-SIM. I guess /e/OS will do for now.

I should have noticed when Google removed "don't be evil", but I guess better late than never. Watching them remove an ICE tracking app from the play store just removed the last bit of doubt.

Wasn't the ICEblock app Apple only, or was their an Android version of the app as well?

Fairphone 5.

Regardless of the OS, I only buy Fairphones anyway. Luckily, Fairphones offer very good support for alternative OSes.

Ive been tempted to try Ubuntu Touch aswwell, but cant get my damn phone to recognise my laptop and vice versa. doesn't matter which port or cable! FYI - ubuntu touch doesnt have encryption yet, so if it gets stolen everything will be available for the thief.
