That's just so stupid. I can't imagine Doctorow's usual audience falling for this, though.

(Started reading it today and couldn't put it away, it's an amazing book, especially the chapter about technofeudalism. I bought my copy as a DRM-free .epub on thalia.de and it's definitely the real one 😆.)

My tinfoil hat theory is that this instance is less a cashgrab and more an attack from AI slopbros to drown out criticism their billionaire overlords.

Really keen to sit down and read this book though.

I really enjoy his books, but the past couple of nonfiction books of his just feel like they are repeating themselves... and I haven't read this one yet, but it looks like it is more of the same.

Don't get me wrong, I think this is important information that everyone needs to hear... but I feel so disappointed after each one knowing that there really isn't a solution to the problem. Each book just seems to be restating the issue.

I'm reminded of this

The original book is just the name 'Doug' over and over, but the scammers looking at the best-selling books don't know that lol It's so fucking weird
