This happened with an academic conference (physics iirc). A professor was asked to speak and she submitted a headshot for use in their advertising, but the conference wanted a different aspect ratio. Rather than crop the image, the materials designer asked ChatGPT to expand the photo to the correct size. It gave the professor a low cut shirt, and no one at the conference company noticed until the promotional materials were distributed and the professor contacted them.

This sounds a little made up. But it could also be true.

I hate this timeline for reasons like this.

AI conference

Sounds like a great opportunity to use it as a terrible example.

It's a bug, the translucent rectangle that usually goes behind the time stamp along the bottom right corner of a preview is bugged to the left. Happens to me from time to time

Or, hear me out, the app is trying to give that field cleavage in your examples. Big ol' grass titties of mother earth.

Tnx for validating, I thought I was going crazy. Happy that it isn't some AI shenanigans going on 😮‍💨

middle aged cis guy here. Thinking of opening a WhatsApp account to see if it will give me cleavage.

Me too, but if I wore a v neck there'd be too much hair to tell.

It looks like a translucent black rectangular overlay that happens to line up with the chest to me.

Why they have it I'm not sure...

That's what it is. The same rectangle exists on pictures of the ocean I recently sent to someone on Whatsapp. Just a weird UI bug I guess.

This is not what it is. You can see the bottom of the v neck in the picture on the right. The cleavage was added to skin that was visible in the original shot. It is not skin that was below the image on the right.

Yes, Whatsapp adds a black rectangle to the bottom left of the image thumbnail for all images. I see it every morning when I send a picture of today's calendar puzzle to my family.

Dafuq, its real. This is such a weird thing to do. And it you open the image full size, the black rectangle is gone.

14

It exists to make the time in the lower right corner more visible, but some bug caused it to be aligned with the left border, causing this ugly effect

OMG these are fun!

I ran out of time and couldn't solve the last two.

It should be right-aligned so that the timestamp and status is visible against a light background. But it's left-aligned due to a bug.

It's on all pictures I send. Placement varies depending on image format.

I misunderstood your statement. I thought you meant a solid black rectangle along the entire bottom of the image. The picture you posted shows me that you mean a transparent black rectangle in the bottom left corner. The edge of that rectangle lines up exactly with where OPs apparent cleavage appears. The black shirt and their picture hid the rest of the effect. Thank you for helping me see it.

Beta testing the residual self image filter… your boobies have been inserted into the matrix.
