Anyone who's ever had an abusive stepdad will recognize the "abuse -> backlash -> cowardly backpedaling -> more abuse but passive-aggressiver now" pattern
"Wait come back! We'll charge you more!"
More like: "They are already mad at us, might as well push through some unpopular changes now. They'll be mad at something else tomorrow. It's not like there are many alternatives out there."
And sadly I think this is probably correct from a business point of view.
Disney: Why won't they pay to see our trash movies in theaters? Raise streaming prices, that'll learn em.
Unfortunately, that one makes even more sense than the GPs.
My only argument against it is that Disney failed to implement it up to now. So there's no reason for them to suddenly discover it.

Imagine if you had a company that was so unpopular that you had to issue this statement? They want you to know they are doing two negative things, not just one.

I mean, Hollywood level production quality. Full multi season series with actual plots and everything. Just peppered with some fan service. Kinda like GoT but with more than just nude scenes.
