I spoke out because it was the right thing to do, not because a poem said they'd eventually come for me

I'm pale male stale, middle Britain where diversity is very limited. I've decided that this is the hill I die on out of principle that society should only ever give people more rights, not take them away.

At some point you have to actually address the fuckery that is causing you to need so many specific protections

But it's not a bad rule of thumb, people generally don't ask for rights unless they need them

I spoke out ... on lemmy ... to a bunch of people who don't need to hear the message. And I'm thinking if cancelling my Disney subscription ... but I wanna watch the next Only Murders in the Building. Power to the people!

First they came for the “illegal” immigrants, now it’s the trans people…but at the same time also now they are going ove the legal immigrants too

First they came for the Communists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me

And there was no one left

To speak out for me
