As far as strawberry cheesecake goes, I'm pretty impressed by my efforts. Candles and singing later, I just made sure it survived the trip out of the tin.

That looks so good, I would be digging into that right away if I saw it at a bday event.

3

Thankyou all for the uplifting! Birthday song has been sung, cake has been cut and it is delicious and will feed us for a few days if we're not piggies. Who am I kidding,....

yaay tomorrow is my birthday and I'll be damend if I'm gonna have another shit one.

last year was a disaster, year before was just...fucked and the one before that I literally got evicted.

This one better be nice or I'm gonna bite its head off

It should be easier to have a comparatively better birthday but I hope you have a great one!

Comparatively is a very dangerous word to use here. We're talking an event that does include my grandfather literally dying in the middle of my 18th birthday party and (another year) ME almost dying (not hyperbole. I spent my 33rd birthday in the ICU with a 10% chance of survival.)

Shit, I'm sorry to hear that. I didn't realise things were so bad. I hope this one's a good one at least

3

Honesty at this point I just don't want another hot water tank explosion.

Yes, that has happened. At this point I just fucking laugh

Happy Birthday. ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’ฐ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ˜ฝ๐Ÿ‘„

Rehearsal at my place was awesome!!!

Was nice having people over which doesn't happen a lot because of where I live.

Awesome night!

We got new disco lights. It's hard to take a pic cos it's going fast. They are wicked.

Seemed to go ok! Iโ€™ve made it to the next round!!!!

Which is case study (nice way of saying roleplay) with 2 senior staff acting like clients.

Odd but will be interesting.

Alrighty.

On my way now. Will be almost an hour early but thatโ€™s my standard MO. Can sit around and have a coffee and mess around on my iPad before hand.

Fingers crossed!

Just went outside on this glorious day for a break - and met a bloke walking his new golden retriever puppy. 16 weeks old and all paws and ears and goodwill to all mankind. Made my day.

Good job Mr Byte, you've been doing great with the posting lately. Keep this up and your next performance review will be very positive.

Mickey has been way more cuddly and needy than usual, somehow. I think he knows something is happening soon (out trip and his stay in the cattery).

I don't want to leave my big baby ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

7

aw, you'll be back, and it will be like a holiday for him too, he'll make new cat friends and have new servants ๐Ÿ˜Š

Half the band are coming over to practice because the drummer hurt his hand. Be nice to have people over!

And of course,

I took a photo of a green sea anemone in a rock pool , it was about 10 cm big. Pretty sure the anemones in this pool are normally a light gold colour, I think it was green from eating all the chlorophyl from the sea lettuce washed up in the storm.

I'm not sure this post reproduces how beautifully translucent green this creature was.

6

Oh that's a great find. Beautiful. And so nice to be a regular visitor to a spot so that you start to see little treasures ๐Ÿ˜Š

Jacket potato with butter, cheese, sour cream, bacon and spring onion, chilli, pepper & salt would be mine.

Nope, I think i inherited the cookbook from my mums then partners kitchen (after his wife moved out.... complicated times!)

Impossible. I'd give a different answer depending on my hunger level, hormones, companion, or it just being a Tuesday.

6

Roasted potato has to be on top, but hot chips (not shoestring, proper hot chips deep fried) and potato chips are close behind. I like a good wedge with sour cream too, and mashed potato has its place.

Now I really want potato.

4
SaneMartiganreply
aussie.zone

Shoestring fries are probably my favourite. But they're unhealthy so need to be eaten in moderation, same for crisps.

Wedges can be risky. I've had a bunch that haven't been cooked well. They're easy to prepare at home but isn't that just kinda a rustic style roast?

Mashed, serves a purpose as a side, base or pie crust. You can zhoosh it up with things like cheese, garlic and bacon then feed it to your GF while she's having a hard time.

Roast - Classic.

Boiled - Intermediary state. Reminds me of of culinary devoid Irish grandma.

Scollop potato Like a cheese and potato bake, makes me think of celebratory meals, eg. xmas.

Potato Gratin. Tried the aldi one once and it was okay but one of my favourite things about potato is that it's cheap.

4

Baked potato is best.

However the potato variety in Australia is pretty bad.

Proper baking potatoes (Russett?) and Yukon Gold potatoes for mashing are top tier.

Y'all can argue, but you'd be wrong.

4

I wonโ€™t argue. I reckon potato quality has been declining for years. Iโ€™ve tried all the supermarket ones and ones from green grocers and I just canโ€™t replicate the fluffiness and flavour of baked or roast potatoes I remember from decades ago. Where. Are. The. GOOD. Potatoes.

5

Roast potato. The crispy edges are delicious.

Mashed potatoes. Nothing nicer with home made gravy.

Chips with mayo from the fritkot off Grande Place.

4

I have a house of mash potato loving fiends, so most days I cook mash. Myself I am partial to roast potatoes and who doesn't love a shoestring fry. Wedges as a side to a robust manly meal like brisket, and I will admit to loving a boiled or even microwaved spud with salt, butter and chives. I make a beautiful potato scallop bake, never got on the gratin train but love a potato rosti. My favourite crisps are original salted crinkle cut. There is no bad potato in my book. The perfect addition to any meal in any form.

Get to work early, a bit of work, long training session, bit of work, Balatro toilet time, lunch, more training.

Then a bit of work, finish early, father's day time at the childcare centre. A nice write-off of a day productivity-wise.

5

fatherโ€™s day time at the childcare centre.

The father's day morning teas I attended when my kids were in primary school, are some of the fondest memories I have from that time.

I also felt bad at the kids who's parents couldn't attend. My kids's reactions to me just being there, still brings a smile to my face.

4

That's why I made the effort to get into work early to go. They may be too young to remember but they're old enough to know if something's off on the day so I need to turn up.

2

Even if they don't remember, you will. I have yet to regret spending time with the kids.

Thereโ€™s an Imgur blackout protesting the banning of nsfw and also they were removing political content?

Also theyโ€™re going to be purging old unused content not associated with an account so please go grab anything youโ€™d miss if it hasnโ€™t already happened. (It began at least a week ago maybe.)

There are some old pics of Melbcat on there that will goโ€ฆ I do have the originals and donโ€™t remember where I wrote the links to the post but itโ€™s still sad to think about.

I refused to make an account because they were demanding a phone number. I guess if I ever do Drawabox I have to find an alternative for that reason aloneโ€ฆ

I gave Mr Woof a long overdue bath. He was not pleased.

It was a touch awkward but I managed to get the raised dog bath in the bathroom so it was partly in the shower and I could use the shower hose to wash and also drain the dirty water back into the shower. The tiles got a bit wet but not enough to cause any real problems. Now that I know I have a setup that works Mr Woof may be doomed to more frequent baths again.

Went to Kickin' Inn for dinner tonight because I've been craving seafood and it was surprisingly fun eating out of a bag on the table with gloves on. Expensive, but would do it again sometime.

Silksong is the Hollow Knight sequel finally released after 8 years. You can buy it from any major gaming platform.

Bandcamp Friday is when Bandcamp waivers their fees and passes 100% of the sale on to the artist. You can go onto Bandcamp.com and buy an album by an artist you like this Friday (PST time) to pass all of the money from that sale to them.
