Site slowness and upgrading

I have gotten a few complaints about the site being slow with ~30s load times. I did double the CPU to 4 cores the other month but I just tried upgrading again to dedicated CPU instead of shared CPU. Maybe that will help. Let me know.

Thanks,

I definitely noticed the bump in performance/resources the other month, haven't noticed much by way of slowness lately. I'll try to keep an eye out and report back! Thanks for all you do :)

I found it was a little slow, but nothing like before.

Thanks for your work to make this a great place to interact with Lemmy.

I was one of the few that had mentioned loading issues, but I haven't noticed it for a week or more. It's hard to pinpoint an exact moment because I just kind of stopped paying attention.

Whatever you did is working. I have no more issues.

What is driving the increased demand for resources?

I'm not sure what's driving it. There haven't been any lemmy upgrades since June. Maybe more users? Although I don't know if I've really been getting THAT many applications lately.

In a thread somewhere a few weeks ago, someone was saying ai crawlers have arrived, and are using a lot of resources.

It doesn't appear to have helped a lot, though I'm not getting a "site took too long to respond."

Edit: as of 330pm it's back to normal. Not sure why there was a delay earlier but it's apparently gone now.

i'm noticing some slowness when i vainly f5 my posts to see number go up multiple time a minute 🤨

Hmm. My uneducated guess is maybe increased resources needed for federation? I'm sure lemmy.world is still growing at a steady clip. Are we federated with the meta thing?
