Koinobori are Japanese carp-shaped windsocks or streamers traditionally flown to celebrate Children's Day (May 5th) in Japan. They symbolize the wish for children to grow up healthy and strong, inspired by the legend of the carp transforming into a dragon after successfully swimming up a waterfall.
